Tornados and Pacers Draw at Ives-Lemel Family Field

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's soccer team (1-3-1) drew, 0-0, with the visiting William Peace Pacers (2-2-1) on a rainy Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The two sides played two scoreless halves in a 90-minute non-conference affair.

Graduate goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas logged the first shutout of her 2021 Fall campaign, stopping both shots that she faced on-goal. Rojas was joined by a defensive backline consisting of Channing Barker, Lena Hatter, Abbie Worsencroft, Emma White, and Autumn Wright en route to holding the Pacers in check.

On the offensive end, Olivia Little, Sallie Riggan, Ashley Royster, Worsencroft, and Aliyah Vaughan all attempted shots.

The Tornados controlled a majority of possession, winning a grand total of eight corner kicks compared to William Peace's two. Both sides logged five shot attempts, with BC edging William Peace in saves, 2-1.

The Pacers took a pair of shots in the first 12 minutes of action before Royster fired an attempt that went high. WPU forced a Rojas save in the 16th minute before Worsencroft directed a pass toward the goal that went out to the right. Neither side logged any more shots through the final 15 minutes of the first half, leaving the score deadlocked at intermission.

BC's Vaughan forced a Mackenzie Jones save in the 51st minute in one of BC's closest scoring chances of the evening. In the 78th minute, BC's Little ripped an attempt that was deflected by a defender. The ball nearly crossed the line, however, spun away from goal as WPU's Jones gathered the loose ball. Brevard won five corner kicks in a row through the game's final six minutes before a last-minute Riggan shot attempt looped just high of goal, as the two sides settled for the draw.

Brevard returns to action for a neutral-site matchup at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina against NC Wesleyan College on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
