Knights Run Past Tornados in Virginia

BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (5-10, 3-6 USA South) fell 18-2 to Southern Virginia University (8-6, 7-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Buena Vista, Virginia. 

The Knights scored 13 goals in the first half en route to the 18-2 conference victory. 

Emily Denaga and Autumn Kraemer each scored goals for Brevard in the contest, while Lexi Maclauchlin made nine saves. KC Collins dished out two assists and had a team-best three ground balls. 

SVU was led by a four-goal performance from Tyler John, while Adelaide Smith had a hat trick with three scores. Alissa Johnson had a team-high four assists to go alongside a pair of goals. 

The Knights scored nine times in the first quarter before adding four goals to take a 13-0 lead at the end of the first half. Brevard was able to put a pair of goals past Southern Virginia, as Denaga and Kraemer scored in the latter stages of the third quarter, while the Tornado defense shut out SVU in the third period. The hosts put five scores past Brevard in the fourth period to wrap up the 18-2 triumph. 

The Tornados will return home for the inaugural "Ridge Rivalry" matchup against Warren Wilson College on Tuesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Brevard's Senior Day is slated for Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m., where the Tornados will honor seniors KC Collins and Morgan Graham
