Foresters Cruise in Victory over Tornados on Sunday

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team (2-2) was handed a 24-10 defeat at the hands of Lake Forest College (2-0) on a windy Sunday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The Foresters used a nine-goal second quarter followed by holding Brevard's offense to just three goals in the second half en route to the decisive victory.

KC Collins led the offensive charge for the Tornados with four goals, while Parker Moore tallied three scores and a team-high two assists. Emily Denaga, the reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, added a pair of goals and an assist.

Lexi Maclauchlin (2-2) made 11 saves to help anchor the Tornado defensive charge.

Three Lake Forest players tallied four goals each, while eight Foresters enjoyed multi-goal performances.

Denaga wasted no time getting the Tornados on the board, as the freshman from Buford, Georgia scored the game's first goal and gave BC a 1-0 lead.

The Foresters were able to answer back with five-straight goals in the first quarter to take a 5-1 advantage. Lake Forest extended its lead out to a 9-3 margin before the Tornados scored back-to-back goals as Collins and Moore each found the back of the net. The Foresters would take a 12-7 lead heading into the halftime intermission.

Lake Forest use strong defensive play in the second half to aid its way to a comfortable win. The Foresters held Brevard to two goals in the third quarter and just one in the fourth period en route to the win.

Collins scored a pair of goals, while Denaga also found the nylon, but Averett was able to pull away yesterday with the 24-10 triumph.

Brevard will return to action on Tuesday as BC continues its busy spring break as the Tornados take on Berry College at 4 p.m. at Gil Coan Field.
