BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2022 season of competition.
"I'm excited about the upcoming season and finally getting back to a full schedule," commented seventh-year Head Coach Kristin Rosato. "We have a great group of upperclassmen that will lead us on the field this year, as well as a strong group of newcomers that will help to add depth in all areas. I'm looking forward to January so we can start the preparations for our first contest against Sweet Briar College on February 19."
BC's schedule features 16 total contests and includes a program-high 10 home games. Ten of Brevard's matchups will be against USA South competition.
The Tornados kick off their season on Saturday, February 19 at Ives-Lemel Family Field for a 10 a.m. first draw vs. the Vixens of Sweet Briar. BC will then play host to NCAA DIII and MIAA member Alma College for a mid-week tilt on Wednesday, February 23 at 5 p.m. The Tornados close out the month of February with a road trip to Lynchburg, Virginia on Saturday, February 26 vs. ODAC member Randolph College at 1 p.m.
March kicks off with a five-game homestand that begins on Sunday, March 6 when Brevard battles Lake Forest College at 12 p.m. The Tornados then tangle with Berry College on Tuesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. before a conference-opening contest on Saturday, March 12 vs. William Peace at 12 p.m.
Brevard's long home stretch continues with a Tuesday, March 15 matchup vs. Pfeiffer University set for 6 p.m. The Tornados take a break from conference action to host local area foe Warren Wilson College on Wednesday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. to wrap up the homestand.
BC hits the road on Saturday, March 19 for a 3:30 p.m. contest against Averett University in Danville, Virginia, marking BC's first road conference game. Brevard returns to Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday, March 26 to take on Huntingdon College at 1 p.m. before closing March out with a Tuesday, March 29 tilt with Piedmont University in Demorest, Georgia, with first-draw scheduled for 6 p.m.
Brevard will then return home to take on Meredith College at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 before embarking on a three-game road trip. The Tornados will first face NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m. before a Sunday, April 10 matchup at Greensboro College at 1 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina. BC closes its three-game road swing on Saturday, April 16 in Buena Vista, Virginia against Southern Virginia at 3 p.m.
The Tornados will close out the regular season on Saturday, April 23 with a 12 p.m. matchup with Methodist University that will serve as Brevard's Senior Day contest. BC will then turn its attention to the 2022 USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament, which will begin with first-round action on Tuesday, April 26. The Semifinals and Championship contests will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 29-30.
