Miller Voted Rookie of the Year as Tornados Secure Four Postseason Awards from USA South

BREVARD, N.C. - Freshman forward Olivia Miller was voted as the USA South Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, marking the first major award for Brevard College women's basketball as a member of the USA South, as BC was represented in four different categories in the USA South's postseason awards.

Miller, a freshman forward from Hudson, North Carolina, becomes the first Brevard women's basketball student-athlete to earn an "of the Year" award as a member of the USA South. Miller led all USA South rookies during the regular season with a 48.1 shooting percentage. Miller was second on the Tornados in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game to go along with 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 steals per contest. In addition to her Rookie of the Year honor, Miller was named Honorable Mention All-Conference and the USA South's Rookie of the Week three times this season.

Miller got her collegiate career off to a hot start with five-consecutive double-digit scoring performances in her first five college basketball games. All told, Miller scored in double figures 13 times and logged a pair of double-doubles in her impressive freshman campaign.

Junior forward Makenna Parkins was selected to the All-Conference First Team after leading the Tornados in both scoring (13.4 ppg) and rebounding (8-0 rpg). Parkins, a dual-sport athlete who was named USA South Volleyball All-Conference Honorable Mention in the Fall, was second on the team in both field goal (41.5%) and three-point percentage (32.8%). Parkins scored in double figures 20 times and had nine double-doubles on the season.

Senior guard Journey Tyler was selected as BC's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team. The Knoxville, Tennessee native played in 20 games and made 16 starts this season, scoring a season-high 12 points at NC Wesleyan.
