BREVARD, N.C. - After scoring in double figures in each of her first three collegiate contests, Brevard College's Olivia Miller was selected as the first USA South Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week of the season.
The Hudson, North Carolina freshman forward averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game as the Tornados posted a 1-2 record last week. In a 67-49 win over Bob Jones, Miller notched a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds, to go along with five assists, five steals, and one block. In a 73-57 loss to Greenville, Miller scored a career-high 18 points with four rebounds, four steals, two blocks, and one assist. Finally, in a 90-82 loss to Anderson, Miller totaled 17 points, four rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.
The Tornados gear up for the beginning of USA South Conference play this weekend, as Brevard takes on NC Wesleyan University on Friday at 7 p.m. in Rocky Mount, North Carolina before facing Meredith College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Raleigh.
Miller's award gives Brevard College a grand total of 20 weekly athlete of the week awards from the USA South.
