BREVARD, N.C. – Following a career performance that included 23 points and seven rebounds in an 88-82 weekend road win at LaGrange College, Aysha Short of Brevard College has earned accolades from the USA South Conference, being selected Rookie of the Week after her individual performance.

Short, a freshman guard from Morganton, North Carolina, tallied a career-high 23 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field with season-best totals in 3-pointers made (four) and free throws made (seven). Short also pulled down a career-high seven rebounds alongside her offensive efforts that led to the Tornados earning their third conference win of the season.

The performance was Short's second double-digit scoring performance of the regular season, as the freshman previously tallied 10 points in a December 3, 201 home victory over Warren Wilson College. The guard began her collegiate career with an 11-point outing at NCAA DI Furman University in an exhibition matchup.

Short and the rest of the Tornados are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when the Tornados return to the Boshamer Gymnasium to take on Maryville College in a 6 p.m. tip-off.
