BREVARD, N.C. - Graduate forward Destiny Williams has been selected as the first USA South Women's Basketball Player of the Week of the 2021-22 season after leading the Tornados to a 1-1 weekend at the Mountaintop Madness tournament hosted by Covenant College.

Williams, a native of Aiken, South Carolina, averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds, to go along with 4.5 steals and 3.0 assists per game as the Tornados posted a 1-1 record last week with a win over Berry and a loss to Greenville. Williams posted a double-double (17 points/15 rebounds) against Berry while her week-highs included 23 points, 15 rebounds, five steals, three assists (twice) and one block. 

The honor marks the first weekly award of Williams' career, as the graduate student has totaled 905 points, 506 rebounds, 189 assists, and 149 assists over her four-plus years at Brevard.

Williams and the rest of the women's basketball team open up at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Bob Jones University before beginning USA South play on Saturday and Sunday against Agnes Scott (2 p.m.) and Wesleyan (2 p.m.).
