  • Brevard College Places Record 167 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference List

    Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year. BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics hosted the 2021-22 BESPYs, the college’s annual Athletic Awards ceremony on Monday, April 25 at the Boshamer Gymnasium. It marked the first in-person BESPYs awards banquet since the Spring of 2019.
  • Williams, Lockwood Earn USA South Conference Postseason Accolades

    BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College women’s Basketball student-athletes Destiny Williams and Avery Lockwood each earned accolades by the USA South Conference as part of the league’s 2021-22 All-Conference awards. Williams, a graduate forward from Aiken, South Carolina, was named USA South Conference First Team West Division. Lockwood, a senior center from Foxworth, Mississippi, was named to the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team.

    The most successful season in Brevard College women’s basketball’s NCAA era wrapped up on Tuesday evening, as the no. 4 seed Tornados (15-11) fell by a final of 54-46 to top-seed Berea College (21-5) inside of the Seabury Center in Berea, Kentucky in the quarterfinals of the USA South Women’s Basketball Tournament.

    The fourth seeded Brevard College women’s basketball team (15-10) won the program’s first playoff game in the NCAA-era, defeating no. 5 Maryville College (11-14) 73-64 in the First Round of the USA South Conference Tournament on Saturday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
  • Postseason Preview: Tornados Take on Scots in First-Round Home Matchup Saturday at 6 p.m.

    The Brevard College women’s basketball team (14-10) - which is making its second-consecutive trip to the postseason and hosting its first playoff game of the program’s NCAA-era - is preparing to take on Maryville College on Saturday at 6 p.m. inside of the Boshamer Gymnasium in the first round of the 2022 USA South Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament.  The Tornados, who clinched the four-seed in the West Division by virtue of their 71-68 home win last Saturday over Huntingdon College, will host the fifth-seeded Maryville Scots (11-13, 7-8 USAS) in the first round of the tournament. The winner will advance to take on West Division top-seeded Berea College on Tuesday in Berea, Kentucky. 
  • Tornados Close Regular Season, Turn Attention to Conference Tournament

    The Brevard College women’s basketball team (14-10, 8-7 USAS) concluded its 2021-22 regular season with a 57-52 defeat to host Huntingdon College (10-14, 6-9 USAS) on Tuesday evening in Montgomery, Alabama.  With a conference record of 8-7, the Tornados clinched the West Division’s fourth seed in the upcoming USA South Conference tournament. No. 4 Brevard will host No. 5 Maryville College on Saturday in the first round of the USA South Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament.  It marks the second straight year that the Tornados have qualified for the postseason and the first time BC will host a USA South Conference women’s basketball tournament game.
  • BC Drops Game to Scots as Two Teams Split Regular-Season Series

    The Brevard College women’s basketball team (14-9, 8-6 USAS) dropped a conference matchup to visiting Maryville (10-13, 6-8 USAS) 75-71 on Sunday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.  The game was a make-up contest that was originally scheduled for Jan. 12.

    The Brevard College women’s basketball team (14-8, 8-5 USAS) clinched its second-consecutive USA South Conference postseason berth, as the Tornados rallied back to win a thrilling 71-68 decision over Huntingdon College (9-12, 5-7 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at an electric Boshamer Gymnasium.

    The Brevard College women’s basketball team (13-8, 7-5 USAS) won a critical USA South Conference matchup 65-63 over host Maryville (8-13, 5-8 USAS) on Wednesday evening in Maryville, Tennessee. It marked the fourth consecutive win for the Tornados who sit in sole possession of fourth place in the current USA South West Division standings.

It marked the first game for the Tornados since December 8, 2021, as BC rang in the New Year by remaining undefeated in conference play.
