Track & Field Continues Season at Montreat Invitational

MONTREAT, N,C. – The Brevard College track & field team continued its 2022 season on Friday and Saturday at the Montreat College Invitational at MC's Pulliam Stadium in Montreat, North Carolina.

George Wells turned in another successful week in the competitive field featuring NCAA DI, DII, and NAIA competition. Wells, a sophomore from Columbia, South Carolina, finished in 10th place in the men's 1500-meter run with a 4:06.94 time. Channing Barker led things on the women's side with a seventh-place performance in the women's 400-meter dash, finishing in 1:01.66. Barker turned in an 18th place performance in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:32.57.

Wells continued his impressive work with a fourth-place finish in the men's 800-meter run with a 1:58.64 time in a field of 41 total competitors. Haylea-Layne Miller finished in 10th for the women's 400-meter hurdles.

Dalton Hawley (4th, 15:46.77) and Garrett Spangler (10th, 16:05.49)  each finished top-10 in the men's 5000-meter run, with Devon Brodmyer placing 16th with a 16:14.53.

Competing in his first track & field competition at Brevard, senior dual-sport athlete Jerome Bass finished in sixth place in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.93m in the finals.

The Tornados return to action on Saturday, April 2 at the SWU Gotta Run Invite in Central, South Carolina.
