Softball Earns Senior Day Victory in Season Finale

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team (8-19, 4-12 USA South) split its final doubleheader of the 2022 season with Wesleyan College (20-13, 9-7 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the BC Softball Field.

The Tornados pulled out a 4-2 victory in the final game of the season to close out 2022 on a high note, as Brevard honored its two graduate students and four seniors - Brittany Franks, Emily White, Kaitlynn Farmer, Jocelyn Folkers, Taylor Hannah, and Savannah Jones

Wesleyan used an offensive surge to take game one, 13-0.

GAME TWO: BREVARD 4, WESLEYAN 2

Brevard ended its season with a resounding triumph over Wesleyan, as the Tornados built an early four-run advantage and held on for the two-run victory.

Farmer closed out her Tornado career with a complete-game performance, earning the victory while striking out four batters and allowing just two earned runs.

Franks went 2-for-3 in her final game in a Tornado uniform and scored a run, while Beth Hyatt crossed the plate twice for BC. Jones went 1-for-3 with BC's lone RBI.

Both sides went down in order in the first inning and stranded runners in the second frame. Brevard got on the board first when a fielding error allowed Hyatt to come across, making it a 1-0 ball game in favor of the Tornados.

BC added three runs in the bottom of the fourth, with Jones singling home Franks before Jones and Hyatt each scored on a wild pitch to give Brevard a 4-0 lead.

Wesleyan threatened in the top of the sixth, scoring twice and loading the bases up with two outs, but Farmer forced a 1-3 groundout to end the frame, as BC clung to a two-run advantage, 4-2.

The Tornado defense closes the game out with three putouts in the top of the seventh as Brevard wrapped up its Senior Day triumph.
