Tornados Drop Two to Eagles in Non-Conference Action
BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team (4-7) dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Reinhardt (14-7) on a windy Saturday afternoon at the BC Softball Field. The Eagles defeated the Tornados 12-1 in game one, followed by a 7-1 outcome in the second game of the twin bill.

Game One - Reinhardt 12, Brevard 1 (5 inn.)

The Eagles took a win via the run-rule to start the day after jumping ahead 5-0 in the top of the first. Graduate third baseman Emily White hit a solo home run for BC's lone run in the contest.

Reinhardt scored five runs to open the day, highlighted by a two-RBI double by RU's Hannah Kate Singleton.

Down 5-0 with two outs in the bottom of the second, White hit a solo shot that cleared the fence in deep left field for the first home run of the season for the Tornados.  The homer for White marked the ninth in the career of the Shelby, North Carolina native.

Reinhardt went on to score three runs in the top of the second to go ahead 8-1 before adding three more runs in the fourth.  A home run by Eagle pinch hitter Isabella Adams in the top of the fifth concluded the scoring.

Senior pitcher Savannah Jones (1-2) started the game and went three innings.  Junior Lindsey Tolle made her first appearance of the season, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout over two innings of relief.  Ally Andriano (8-1) was the winning pitcher for the Eagles.

Game Two - Reinhardt 7, Brevard 1

The Eagles once again took an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first.

BC then answered with a run in the bottom of the first as senior catcher Taylor Hannah registered a triple to the gap in left-center field.  With one out, White then drove in Hannah on a sacrifice fly to left field to put the Tornados on the board.

A three-run home run by Emily Loveless in the top of the fourth gave the Eagles a 6-1 lead. Reinhardt was threatening to score again in the frame, however BC's Mikayla Morgan, Gaby Hooper and Lauren Mann perfectly executed a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Reinhardt would go on to score a seventh run in the top of the sixth to give starter Whitney Shepard (2-4) the win.  Shepard struck out 12 in the complete-game performance.

Starting pitcher Kaitlynn Farmer (2-3) went the full seven innings for the Tornados in her fifth start of the season.

Senior outfielder Jocelyn Folkers went 2-for-3 with two singles to go along with the triple by Hannah to pace the Tornados offensively.

Brevard will now turn its attention to conference play as the Tornados will open its USA South schedule with a road trip next weekend. BC will play a doubleheader at Huntingdon on Friday, March 25 in Montgomery, Alabama followed by a league matchup at LaGrange in LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday, March 26.
