BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College softball team has been selected to finish sixth in the USA South Conference West Division in the annual preseason coaches poll.
Each divisional preseason poll only includes votes from coaches within that particular division only. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Piedmont University, the defending conference champion, was selected as the favorite in the West with eight first-place votes and 64 points. Huntingdon College received the remaining first-place vote and 53 points to finish in second place.
Maryville College (47 points) and Covenant College (40 points) were each slotted in the three and four positions, while LaGrange College was picked fifth with 37 points. The Tornados received 29 points to garner sixth in the tabulation.
Wesleyan College (seventh, 24 points), Agnes Scott College (eighth, 17 points), and Berea College (ninth, 13 points) rounded out the poll.

BC will look to build upon a COVID-shortened 2021 season that featured seven overall wins and six conference victories in 20 total contests. Brevard returns graduate infielder Emily White, who led BC in hits (25), doubles (six), home runs (five), RBIs (18), and batting average (.397). Senior Taylor Hannah and graduate Brittany Franks also return for the Tornado offense, as they ranked second and fourth on the team in total hits, respectively. Overall, BC's roster consists of 14 returners and nine newcomers.
