Softball Announces 2022 Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College softball team, under the direction of second-year Head Coach Bre Shearin, has announced the schedule for its upcoming 2022 season of competition.

"I am so excited for the 2022 season, commented Coach Shearin. "We finally are able to play a full schedule and are back to normal protocols. Our schedule is loaded with some tough teams at the beginning of the season to prepare us for March and April. We have a lot of new faces this year that are going to help with our offensive production and defensive chemistry. They are a special group and it's going to be an exciting season for Nado Softball."

BC's schedule consists of 34 total contests, including four exhibitions. Brevard will play 20 of its games at the BC Softball Field, and plays 16 total USA South Conference games.

The Tornados begin their 2022 season with a trip to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for a twin bill at Carolina University on Saturday, February 12 at 1 and 3 p.m. BC's home-opener is slated for Tuesday, February 15 vs. Pfeiffer University at the BC Softball Field. BC takes part in an exhibition doubleheader on Saturday, February 26 at 1 and 3 p.m. against USC Sumter in Sumter, South Carolina to close out the month of February.

BC Softball kicks off a busy Spring Break schedule with a home DH vs. the University of Pikeville on Monday, March 7 at 12 and 2 p.m. before welcoming Greensboro College to town on Wednesday, March 9 at 2 and 4 p.m. Brevard then travels to Waleska, Georgia to take on Reinhardt University at 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 before closing Spring Break out by welcoming Converse College for a Saturday, March 12 matchup at 1 and 3 p.m. BC will compete in its second exhibition doubleheader vs. Patrick Henry College on Sunday, March 13 at home.

The Tornados will close out their non-conference schedule on Saturday, March 19 with a rematch vs. Reinhardt at 1 and 3 p.m. at home. BC then shifts its focus to the USA South portion of its schedule, traveling to Montgomery, Alabama on Friday, March 25 to play Huntingdon College at 1 and 3 p.m. ET before heading to LaGrange, Georgia to match up against LaGrange College on Saturday, March 26 at 1 and 3 p.m.

An April that features eight total home games begins on Saturday, April 2 against Agnes Scott College at home, taking place at 1 and 3 p.m. BC then travels to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to tangle with Covenant College on Saturday, April 9 at 1 and 3 p.m. BC will host Piedmont University on Wednesday, April 13 for a doubleheader before hitting the road again, trekking to Berea College in Berea, Kentucky for a Saturday, April 16 conference DH.

Brevard closes out its regular season with four consecutive home games, first on Wednesday, April 20 vs. Maryville College and then on Senior Day on Saturday, April 23 vs. Wesleyan College. BC will turn its attention to the USA South Conference Softball Tournament, which begins with a pair of four-team tournaments held Thursday-Saturday, April 28-30 and concludes with a best-of-three Championship Series on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7.

BC will look to build upon a COVID-shortened 2021 season that featured seven overall wins and six conference victories in 20 total contests. Brevard returns graduate infielder Emily White, who led BC in hits (25), doubles (six), home runs (five), RBIs (18), and batting average (.397). senior Taylor Hannah and graduate Brittany Franks also return for the Tornado offense, as they ranked second and fourth on the team in total hits, respectively. Overall, BC's roster consists of 14 returners and nine newcomers.
