Tornados Drop Match 6-3 to Scots

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (2-2) dropped a non-conference road match 6-3 to host Maryville College (2-2) on Saturday afternoon in Maryville, Tennessee.

Brevard topped Maryville in doubles play, winning two of three matches to start the afternoon.
 
Junior Devin Horton and sophomore Bryce Bernitt won in number two doubles with an 8-4 victory over a strong Scots team.  BC's number three doubles team of seniors James Srsich and JaMarcus Walker then won its match by an identical 8-4 score.
 
Maryville and Brevard's number one doubles team battled with MC's Jonathan Crane and Jackson Meyer prevailing 8-6 over BC's Ethan McGee and Noah Lewis.
 
The Scots then went on to sweep number one, two, and four singles.  
 
Horton provided a three-set win in number three singles for the Tornados.  Horton and Meyer split the first two sets before the BC junior took a decisive 6-3 victory in the third.
 
Number five and six singles were also three-set battles as Maryville's Josh Fisher and Kaleb Burke topped Srsich and Walker. 
 
Brevard next heads to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina to compete in four matches beginning Monday vs. Catholic University.
