2021-22 Season Wraps at USA South Conference Tournament

ROME, Ga. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (6-14, 3-3 USA South) concluded its 2021-22 season with an appearance at the USA South Conference Men's Tennis Tournament at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia. The fourth-seeded Tornados matched up with no. 1 seed NC Wesleyan (26-4, 7-0 USA South) in the first round with the top seed winning 9-0 to advance to Friday's semifinals.

A total of seven Tornados made the trip to Rome, Georgia for the USA South Tournament. Junior Ethan McGee, the reigning USA South Player of the Week, played no. 1 singles and teamed up with freshman Noah Lewis (#3 singles) at number one doubles. 

Freshman Bryce Burnitt played no. 2 singles and no. 2 doubles with sophomore Devin Horton who competed in #4 singles at the championships. Junior James Srsich played no. 5 singles with sophomore Hunter Williams at no. 6 singles. Srsich and junior JaMarcus Walker combined as BC's no. 3 doubles team.

In the first round match-up, NC Wesleyan – who is the 12th ranked team in the country and ranked number four in the region - swept doubles play, then won all six singles matches as well.

The appearance at the USA South Conference Tournament marked the program's first postseason appearance since 2010-11.  The Tornados won three of their final four matches with victories over Berea, Huntingdon and Maryville to secure the fourth seed at the championships.  The season also included a home win last Fall vs. Johnson (Tenn.) at the McCoy Tennis Complex, a road win at Johnson & Wales (N.C.), and a neutral-site victory over Cairn in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
