Tornados Drop USA South Opening Match to Scots

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (3-11, 0-1 USAS) dropped its USA South Conference opener 9-0 to Covenant (6-4, 1-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Brevard fell behind 2-0 after the completion of no. 2 and no. 3 doubles.  In number one singles, BC's Ethan McGee and James Srsich battled Covenant's top team of Andrew Dreslinski and Solomon Crouch, yet the Scots took the match 8-3 and therefore a 3-0 lead into singles play.

McGee also played number one singles and was part of the most competitive match of the day. The junior from Salisbury, North Carolina battled Covenant's top singles player Ben Luke who ultimately took the 7-5, 7-5 win for the Scots.

In addition to McGee, BC's singles players included Bryce Bernitt (no. 2 singles), Devin Horton (no. 3), Srisch (no. 4), JaMarcus Walker (no. 5) and Brian Seon (no. 6). Horton and Bernitt also teamed up to play number two doubles, while Peter Bresko and Walker combined to form BC's no. 3 doubles team.

Covenant, the defending USA South West Division champion, went on to sweep singles competition to take the 9-0 victory.

BC will return to action on Saturday, March 26 at 12 p.m. vs. conference foe LaGrange at the McCoy Tennis Complex on the Brevard College campus.  The match will be part of the Tennis Across America Day celebration.
