Tornados Swept by UVa-Wise on Sunday

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (1-3) competed in their second home match of the Fall portion of their 2021-22 season, falling to NCAA DII UVa-Wise on Sunday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. 

Bryce Bernitt and Peter Bresko paired up for a competitive match in number-three doubles, eventually falling 8-5. The Cavaliers were able to take a 3-0 match lead after sweeping doubles action. 

Devin Horton turned in a tight match in number-one singles, falling 6-4, 6-4. James Srsich took his opponent, Coleton Burke, to the wire in the first set before falling 7-6, as Burke would end up clinching number-three singles with a 6-1 victory in the second set. 

Bryce Bernitt went three sets with his opponent, winning the first set 6-2 before a 6-0 defeat in the second set. UVa-Wise's Luke Jarnigan would take number-four singles with a 10-8 win in the tiebreaking third set. 

The Tornados will return to action next Sunday, October 3 when they host Milligan College at 12 p.m.
