Brevard College Places Record 167 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference ListJune 09, 2022Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year. BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.

McGee Voted West Divison First Team as Men’s Tennis Earn Postseason AwardsMay 12, 2022Junior Brevard College men’s tennis student-athlete Ethan McGee was selected to the USA South Conference Men’s Tennis West Division First Team as two BC men’s tennis student-athletes earned USA South postseason awards following the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign. McGee, a junior from Salisbury, North Carolina, was selected to the West Division First Team after a successful individual campaign that also included a USA South Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor. McGee racked up five singles victories – all coming at the number-one spot – in 12 matches played while maintaining a 4-2 number-one singles mark in USA South matches. McGee earned three doubles wins this season, with two coming at the top-flight position.

Brevard College Tornado Student-Athletes Honored at 2021-22 BESPYsApril 29, 2022The Brevard College Department of Athletics hosted the 2021-22 BESPYs, the college’s annual Athletic Awards ceremony on Monday, April 25 at the Boshamer Gymnasium. It marked the first in-person BESPYs awards banquet since the Spring of 2019.

2021-22 Season Wraps at USA South Conference TournamentApril 28, 2022The Brevard College men’s tennis team (6-14, 3-3 USA South) concluded its 2021-22 season with an appearance at the USA South Conference Men’s Tennis Tournament at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia. The fourth-seeded Tornados matched up with no. 1 seed NC Wesleyan (26-4, 7-0 USA South) in the first round with the top seed winning 9-0 to advance to Friday’s semifinals.

Tornados Sweep Maryville on Senior Day, Look Forward to PostseasonApril 19, 2022The Brevard College men’s tennis team (6-13, 3-3 USAS) swept USA South Conference opponent Maryville (3-10, 1-5 USAS) 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennis Complex. The Tornados will now look forward to a postseason trip to the USA South Conference Tournament, the program’s first postseason appearance since the South Atlantic Conference Tournament in 2010-11.

Men’s Tennis Picks Up Big 6-3 Team Win over HuntingdonApril 15, 2022The Brevard College men’s tennis team (5-13, 2-3 USA South) picked up a big 6-3 team win over Huntingdon College on Friday at the McCoy Tennis Complex. Brevard battled back from an early 2-1 deficit following doubles play, racking up five singles wins for a 6-3 final score to earn the team’s second conference win of 2022.

The win marked the first conference victory of the season for the Tornados who took a 4-2 lead in the all-time series with Berea.

Tornados Drop USA South Opening Match to ScotsMarch 19, 2022The Brevard College men’s tennis team (3-11, 0-1 USAS) dropped its USA South Conference opener 9-0 to Covenant (6-4, 1-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Brevard fell behind 2-0 after the completion of no. 2 and no. 3 doubles. In number one singles, BC’s Ethan McGee and James Srsich battled Covenant’s top team of Andrew Dreslinski and Solomon Crouch, yet the Scots took the match 8-3 and therefore a 3-0 lead into singles play.
