Brevard College Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. – The defending USA South Conference Tournament champion Brevard College men's soccer program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season of play.

Brevard's 2023 slate begins with a home exhibition on Saturday, August 26 vs. Montreat College at 6 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field. It continues with 17 regular season contests that feature seven home matchups and seven games within USA South play.

"Every year we try to continue pushing our program to new heights," commented Head Coach Helio "L" D'Anna. "A big part of it is to create a strong regional schedule on top of our already strong USA South Conference slate. This upcoming year is no different; all teams in the Conference are good enough to beat anyone on any given day. Our regional games include some repeats (Bob Jones, Berea, Warren Wilson, Johnson and Wales, and Carolina University) and some strong new ones (Averett, Washington and Lee, Maryville, and Emory). We feel it will be challenging and will prepare us for things come tournament time."

The 2023 regular season begins on Friday, September 1 at 7 p.m. with a home matchup under the lights at Ives-Lemel Family Field against Bob Jones University. The Tornados conclude their opening weekend with a road trip to Berea, Kentucky to take on Berea College on Sunday, September 3 at 4 p.m.

The Tornados then compete in consecutive home contests for the only time in 2023 as Brevard hosts Warren Wilson College on Wednesday, September 6 at 7 p.m., followed by a Sunday, September 10 meeting against Carolina University kicking off at 6 p.m.

BC hits the road for a Tuesday, September 12 matchup with Averett University in Danville, Virginia at 5 p.m. before a Sunday, September 17 meeting with Washington and Lee University at home beginning at 3:30 p.m. in a rematch of the First Round of the 2022 NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Tournament.

The Tornados close out the month of September with a pair of marquee road contests on Tuesday, September 19 at 7 p.m. in Maryville, Tennessee vs. Maryville College and on Saturday, September 23 at 5 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia vs. Emory University before a Saturday, September 30's home conference opener vs. Southern Virginia University at 4:30 p.m.

October kicks off with a Wednesday, October 4 road trip to Misenheimer, North Carolina to take on Pfeiffer University at 6 p.m. before returning home for a Sunday, October 8 home date with Mary Baldwin University at 1 p.m. Brevard then preps for a three-match North Carolina road swing in Charlotte against Johnson & Wales-NC (Wed. Oct. 11, 7 p.m.), in Rocky Mount vs. NC Wesleyan University (Saturday, Oct. 14, 3 p.m.) and in Greensboro vs. Greensboro College (Wednesday, October 18, TBA).

Brevard's final regular season home contest of 2023 is on Saturday, October 21 vs. Methodist University at 3:30 p.m. BC's non-conference slate comes to an end with a trip to nearby Swannanoa, North Carolina to take on Warren Wilson College on Tuesday, October 24 at 4 p.m. before concluding the regular season on Saturday, October 28 in Cary, North Carolina against William Peace University in a rematch of the 2022 USA South Men's Soccer Championship match. The start time is currently to be determined for the season finale.

The 2023 USA South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament will begin with first-round action on Tuesday, October 31, and continue with the semifinals on Thursday, November 2. The 2023 USA South Conference Tournament Championship is scheduled for Saturday, November 4.

In 2022, Brevard enjoyed the most historic season in the program's NCAA-era history, with its first USA South Conference championship and debut in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. BC won its most single-season matches (12) in the NCAA era this year, while junior forward Ryan Lynch broke program records for single-season (15) and career (22) goals and points (35 this season, 51 career). Senior Sam O'Callaghan broke the single-season (eight) and career (15) NCAA-era records for assists, as Coach Helio D'Anna's squad captured the program's first conference title, and its second trophy in three seasons (Spring 2021 USA South West Division Championship).
