BC Men’s Soccer Secures Five All-Conference Selections

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team earned five spots on the USA South Men's Soccer All-Conference team, as the League announced its annual postseason awards. 

Junior forward Ryan Lynch, senior defender Sam O'Callaghan, and sophomore defender Rocco Barbon were named to the All-Conference First Team, while the Tornados earned a pair of selections to the All-Conference Second Team - senior midfielder Luis dos Santos and junior midfielder Igor da Silva. O'Callaghan also was awarded All-Sportsmanship honors. 

Lynch, a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, scored a program NCAA-era record 12 goals with four assists to set a new single-season program record with 28 points. Lynch also set new program NCAA-era career records as the forward brought his career goal total to 19 goals, while extending his career point total to 44. Lynch totaled a hat trick of goals on October 12 vs. Pfeiffer, scored five goals in conference play, and scored goals in eight of BC's 18 total matches so far in 2022. Lynch won three USA South Player of the Week awards over the course of the 2022 regular season. 

O'Callaghan, a senior from Wicklow, Ireland, capped off his three-year Tornado career with a career year as he set the program's NCAA-era single-season to assist record with eight assists while bringing his career assist total to a school-record 15. O'Callaghan also set the single-game assist record with three assists on October 8 at Mary Baldwin. 

Barbon, a sophomore from Treviso, Italy, started in 17 of BC's 18 matches at center back, totaling a goal while being a large part of Brevard's impressive defensive numbers this season which includes a 0.99 goals-against-average and eight shutouts. 

Dos Santos, a senior from São Paolo, Brazil, scored three goals with one assist for seven points while starting in 17 of BC's 18 matches this season. Da Silva, a junior from Americana, Brazil, scored three goals and assisted on two scores this season for a total of eight points, bringing his Tornado career totals to four goals and four assists. The junior midfielder played in 17 matches while making 16 starts.

The Tornados continue their journey through the 2022 USA South Men's Soccer Tournament, traveling to face top-seeded NC Wesleyan University on Thursday, November 3 at 3 p.m.
