POSTSEASON PREVIEW - Men’s Soccer Hosts First Round on Tuesday vs. Greensboro

BREVARD, N.C. - For the second time in the last three seasons, the BC men's soccer team (10-5-2) will host a first-round postseason contest, as the Tornados take on Greensboro College (4-8-5) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

The Tornados and Pride recently met in the regular season, with Brevard taking a 1-0 victory at home against the visitors last Wednesday.

Brevard has qualified for postseason play in each of the last four seasons, as the Tornados competed in the 2019 ECAC Men's Soccer Tournament, won the Spring 2021 USA South West Division Championship, and earned a spot in the 2021 USA South Conference Tournament.

Brevard has broken numerous program NCAA-era records en route to its most successful season, as BC has racked up a program-high 10-win campaign this year. The Tornados put together a nine-match unbeaten streak dating from September 10 to October 12.

Junior forward Ryan Lynch broke the single-season and career goal-scoring records at BC, surging for 12 goals this season to bring his career total to an NCAA-era record 19. Lynch leads all USA South players in goals (12) and points (28) this season. Senior defender Sam O'Callaghan racked up a program-record eight assists to also hold the NCAA-era career assist record with 15 total assists over three seasons at BC.

Freshman forward Daniel Morgan has made an immediate impact for the Tornado offense with four goals in 12 matches played, while Igor da Silva and Luis dos Santos have each logged three goals apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Matheus Rossi has seen the majority of work between the sticks for the Tornados, making 42 saves with a 10-5-1 record and seven total shutouts (six solo, one combined).

Greensboro's goal-scoring efforts have been led by Collin Thomas, who totaled six in the regular season. The Pride concluded the season last Saturday with a 0-0 draw vs. no. 3 Methodist.

The winner of Tuesday's showdown will travel to Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Thursday to take on top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. The Battling Bishops secured the 2022 USA South Men's Soccer Regular Season Championship with a 6-1 record in conference action.
