Matheus Alexandre Silva Santos Announced as Volunteer Assistant Coach for BC Men’s Soccer

BREVARD, N.C. - Matheus Alexandre Silva Santos has been added to the Brevard College men's soccer coaching staff as Volunteer Assistant Coach, announced Head Coach Helio "L" D'Anna.

"Matheus has the dream to coach in the United States of America," commented Coach L. "He completed his playing career early in life and moved his focus into coaching. He has dedicated himself academically and at the club level in Brazil and is eager to join our staff. We are happy to have him."

Santos' responsibilities within the BC men's soccer program will include all aspects, with a concentration in fitness and goalkeeper coaching.

Santos' playing career included a stop at Clube Sportivo Sergipe – a club located in Sergipe, Brazil. They currently compete in Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth division of Brazilian professional soccer. Santos also competed for Santos FC, a team located in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil that competes in the top flight of Brazilian soccer Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.

Santos most recently completed an internship at Associacao Desportiva Confianca Youth Academy where he was responsible for the development of physical activities and exercises in soccer, while also being responsible for the preparation of athletes and socio-educational work with the academy youth.

Santos completed his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education at Estacio de Sergipe College in 2018.

The BC men's soccer team opens its season with an exhibition match on Sunday, August 28 vs. Montreat College at Ives-Lemel Family Field with a 3 p.m. start time. The regular season will begin on Thursday, September 1 in Central, South Carolina against Southern Wesleyan University at 7 p.m.
