  • Brevard College Men’s Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

    The defending USA South Conference Tournament champion Brevard College men’s soccer program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season of play. Brevard’s 2023 slate begins with a home exhibition on Saturday, August 26 vs. Montreat College at 6 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field. It continues with 17 regular season contests that feature seven home matchups and seven games within USA South play.

  • Academic All-District Team Includes Program-Record Four Tornados from BC Men’s Soccer

    BREVARD, N.C. – A program-record four student-athletes from the USA South Conference champion Brevard College men’s soccer team have been named 2022 Academic All-District performers, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA). Brevard College’s Rocco Barbon, Francesco Bonometti, Igor da Silva and Sam O’Callaghan were all named to the Academic All-District team for the Fall 2022 season. All four Tornados now advance to the ballot for the 2022 CSC Academic All-America team.
  • Brevard College Concludes Historic Season at NCAA Division III National Championships

    LEXINGTON, Va. – The Brevard College men’s soccer team (12-6-3) concluded its most successful season in the school’s NCAA era with a 5-1 defeat to host Washington & Lee University (15-2-4) in the First Round of the NCAA Division III National Championships Tournament on Saturday in Lexington, Virginia.  With the win, the 22nd ranked Generals advance to the second round of the national tournament to face the winner of Muhlenberg and Case Western Reserve.

  • Men’s Soccer Draws No. 22 Washington and Lee in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    The 2022 USA South Conference Champion Brevard College men’s soccer team (12-5-3) will travel to Lexington, Virginia on Saturday, November 12 to take on No. 22 Washington and Lee University (14-2-4), who won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, at 1 p.m at Alston Parker Watt Field. The winner of BC and W&L will take on the victor in the Case Western Reserve/Muhlenburg match on Sunday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m. Brevard, under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach Helio “L” D’Anna, won the USA South Conference for the first time in program history in dramatic fashion, winning three matches in five days as the tournament’s four-seed.
  • BC Men’s Soccer Earns Six Selections on USA South All-Tournament Team; da Silva Named MVP

    Following the conclusion of a 2022 USA South Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament that saw Brevard College capture the program’s first conference title and earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth, six Tornados were selected to the All-Tournament team with Igor da Silva being named the Tournament MVP. The selections marked the first All-Tournament honorees in the USA South for any sport at BC. Da Silva (MVP), Rocco Barbon, Tom Dussauge, Rodrigo Garcia, Ryan Lynch, and Matheus Rossi were all selected to the team. Da Silva, a junior midfielder from Americana, Brazil, broke out during the USA South Tournament, scoring the game-winning goal in the 109th minute in the semifinals at NC Wesleyan University before scoring an 85th-minute match-tying goal in the championship at William Peace University. Overall this season, da Silva tallied five goals with two assists en route to a USA South All-Conference Second Team selection. Da Silva is no stranger to big-time postseason goals, as his one and only goal of his freshman season came in the Spring 2021 USA South West Division Tournament vs. Piedmont University.

    After trailing 1-0 with just over five minutes left in regulation, the Brevard College men’s soccer team (12-5-3) pulled off a comeback for the ages, as junior midfielder Igor da Silva scored in the 85th minute to force overtime. Following a scoreless first overtime period, junior forward and program-leading goal scorer Ryan Lynch gave Brevard its first lead in the 109th minute to lift BC to the school’s first USA South Conference Tournament title – as the Tornados defeated two-seed William Peace University (10-4-4) 2-1 to earn the program’s first-ever berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
  • Da Silva’s Late Double-Overtime Winner Sends Tornados to USA South Conference Championship

    Junior midfielder Igor da Silva’s goal in the 109th minute of play gave the Brevard College men’s soccer team (11-5-3) a 2-1 double-overtime victory over top-seeded NC Wesleyan University (9-7-1) on Thursday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The victory sends the Tornados to the 2022 USA South Conference Men’s Soccer Championship on Saturday, as Brevard will match up with two-seeded William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Kickoff time is still to be determined.
  • BC Men’s Soccer Secures Five All-Conference Selections

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team earned five spots on the USA South Men’s Soccer All-Conference team, as the League announced its annual postseason awards.  Junior forward Ryan Lynch and senior defender Sam O’Callaghan were named to the All-Conference First Team, while the Tornados earned three selections to the All-Conference Second Team - senior midfielder Luis dos Santos, junior midfielder Igor da Silva, and sophomore defender Rocco Barbon. O’Callaghan also was awarded All-Sportsmanship honors. 
  • Tornados Advance to Semifinals on Penalty Kicks in Thriller at Home

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (10-5-3) advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 USA South Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament after drawing in double-overtime with Greensboro College (4-8-6) through 110 minutes of regulation and overtime. Brevard outlasted Greensboro 4-3 in penalties to advance. Luis dos Santos, Rodrigo Garcia, Ryan Lynch, and Sam O’Callaghan made the first four penalty kicks, while freshman goalkeeper Justin Rivest, who was substituted on for penalties, stopped Greensboro’s fifth and final PK try to send the Tornados to the semifinals.

  • POSTSEASON PREVIEW - Men’s Soccer Hosts First Round on Tuesday vs. Greensboro

    For the second time in the last three seasons, the BC men’s soccer team (10-5-2) will host a first-round postseason contest, as the Tornados take on Greensboro College (4-8-5) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  The Tornados and Pride recently met in the regular season, with Brevard taking a 1-0 victory at home against the visitors last Wednesday. 
  • BC Men’s Soccer Draws with William Peace on Senior Day; Heads to Conference Tourney at Fourth Seed

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (10-5-2, 4-2-1 USAS) played USA South Conference rival William Peace (8-2-5, 4-1-2) to a 1-1 draw in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.   With the result, Brevard will head to the USA South Conference tournament as the bracket’s fourth seed.  BC will host fifth-seeded Greensboro on Tuesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
  • Tornados Secure NCAA-Era Record 10th Win of Season with 1-0 Victory Over Greensboro

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (10-5-1, 4-2-0 USA South) won its 10th game of the season - giving the Tornados their most single-season wins in the program’s NCAA era - as BC earned a 1-0 win over Greensboro College (4-8-5, 2-3-1 USAS) on Wednesday night at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  With the win, the Tornados secured their position in the 2022 USA South Men’s Soccer Tournament, as BC is now guaranteed to host at least one match in the postseason with a top-four seed. 
  • Tornados Drop Nail Biter at Methodist

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (9-5-1, 3-2-0 USAS) fell 2-1 in a tight contest at host Methodist University (8-2-4, 4-1-1 USAS) in USA South Conference competition on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Senior Luis dos Santos scored his third goal of the season off an assist by Filipe Tchoulkov in the 19th minute to give BC the initial 1-0 lead.  It marked the second assist in a Tornado uniform for Tchoulkov, a junior midfielder from Quarteira, Portugal.
  • Lynch’s Last-Minute Goal Pushes Tornados Past Owls

    Junior forward Ryan Lynch received a cross into the box from freshman midfielder Caue dos Santos and headed the ball towards the far post, beating the goalkeeper with just 22 seconds left to play as the Brevard College men’s soccer team (9-4-1) dropped Warren Wilson College (2-10-2) in the final minute, 1-0, on Wednesday night at Ives-Lemel Family Field. 
  • Last-Minute Goal Gives Battling Bishops Victory Over Tornados in Heartbreaker

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (8-4-1, 3-1-0 USA South) fell in heartbreaking fashion, conceding a last-minute goal to NC Wesleyan University (6-5-1, 3-1-0 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The defeat marked the first for BC in conference play, and the Tornados’ first in 10 matches following a nine-match unbeaten streak. Brevard fell despite outshooting the Battling Bishops 11-6 in the contest. The match was highly-contested, with 32 fouls called between the two sides and a total of seven cautions issued.
  • Lynch Breaks Program Records with Hat Trick, Unbeaten Streak Reaches Record Nine Matches

    Junior forward Ryan Lynch totaled his first career hat trick and broke the program’s NCAA-era record for single-season and career goals as the Brevard College men’s soccer team (8-1-3, 3-0 USA South) extended its unbeaten streak to a program NCAA-era record nine matches as the Tornados held a late Pfeiffer University (1-7-4, 0-3-1 USAS) rally off to take a 3-2 victory on Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Lynch, a junior forward from Charlotte, North Carolina, surpassed a pair of BC alumni in the NCAA-era record books, passing BC alumnus Adam Spencer ’21 for career goals and Matheus Masukawa ’20 for single-season goals. The junior has now recorded 17 career goals and has surged for 10 goals already in the 2022 campaign, with both marks setting new NCAA-era records for BC men’s soccer.
  • BC Stretches Unbeaten Streak to Eight Matches

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (7-3-1, 2-0 USA South) defeated host Mary Baldwin University (2-7-1, 0-2 USAS) 5-2 to stretch BC’s unbeaten streak to eight games and remain perfect in USA South Conference play. The Tornados have won seven matches to go along with one draw in the streak that dates back to a 2-0 win at Bob Jones on September 12.  The last loss for BC came over one month ago, a road defeat at Oglethorpe on September 7.  BC has outscored its opponents 18-5 over the undefeated streak which includes five shutouts.
  • O’Callaghan Finds Morgan for Game-Winner, Tornados Win Sixth Straight Match

    Senior defender Sam O’Callaghan found freshman defender Daniel Morgan in the 80th minute to give the Brevard College men’s soccer team (6-3, 1-0 USA South) a deserved victory in its USA South Conference opener against Southern Virginia University (0-7, 0-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Buena Vista, Virginia. The Tornados dominated the match from the onset, firing 32 total shots off with 13 being on-goal. SVU made 12 saves, with Brevard taking a total of 13 corner kicks to control possession.
  • Tornados Take 2-0 Win vs. Asbury to Win Fifth Consecutive Match

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (5-3) used impressive defense and a pair of goals to earn a 2-0 non-conference victory over Asbury University (2-4-3) on Wednesday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The match marked Brevard’s fifth-straight victory and fourth shutout in its last five matches.  Junior defender Igor da Silva and junior forward and back-to-back USA South Player of the Week honoree Ryan Lynch supplied the two scores for Brevard, with Caue dos Santos assisting on Lynch’s last-minute goal. Freshman goalkeeper Matheus Rossi (5-3) earned his fifth win and fourth overall shutout in a 90-minute clean sheet for the Victoria, E.S., Brazil native.

    For the second-consecutive week, Brevard College men’s soccer junior forward Ryan Lynch was selected as the USA South Conference Player of the Week after being involved in all three goals in a 3-0 victory over Berea College last Wednesday.
  • Tornados Take Down Berea in Home-Opener for Fourth-Straight Win

    The Brevard College men’s soccer team (4-3) defeated non-conference foe Berea College (4-2-2) 3-0 in BC’s home opener on Wednesday evening at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  It marked the fourth consecutive victory for Brevard with a winning streak dating back to September 10. The Tornados have outscored their opponents 9-2 over the course of the winning streak. Ryan Lynch, the reigning USA South Player of the Week, scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Tornados. The junior forward from Charlotte, North Carolina now has totaled 12 points with five goals and two assists on the season.
  • Lynch Picked Player of the Week after Big Showing at Warren Wilson

    Junior forward Ryan Lynch was selected as USA South Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after a strong performance in Brevard College’s 3-2 victory over Warren Wilson College. The award marks Lynch’s second player of the week accolade of his career after earning the honor last season.

    Junior midfielder Luis dos Santos found the back of the net in the 76th minute to lift the Brevard College men’s soccer team (3-3) to a hard-fought 1-0 decision over Centre College (0-4-1) on Saturday afternoon in Danville, Kentucky. Dos Santos, a junior from São Paolo, Brazil, scored his second goal of the season - this one off an Estevan Berto assist - to lift the Tornados to their third-straight win.

The win marks the second consecutive victory for the Tornados after claiming its first win of the season, 2-0, last Saturday evening at Bob Jones University.
