Leopardi Selected as Defender of the Week after Pair of Shutout Performances

BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College sophomore goalkeeper Thiago Leopardi has been selected as the USA South Conference Men's Soccer Defender of the Week following a pair of shutouts recorded in a 1-0 win at Pfeiffer University and a 0-0 draw vs. Covenant College.

Leopardi, a Business & Organizational Leadership major from Jundiai, Brazil, posted a pair of shutouts as the Tornados went 1-0-1 last week. The BC shot-stopper made three saves in BC's road win against Pfeiffer before stopping a career-high six shots while shutting out Covenant through 110 minutes of play.

So far in Fall 2021, Leopardi has turned in five starts – all unbeaten – with three wins and a pair of draws. The sophomore has made a total of 13 saves and maintained a 0.37 goals-against average and .867 save percentage through 490 minutes on the pitch.

Leopardi and the rest of the Tornados return to action tomorrow, traveling to Demorest, Georgia to face Piedmont University at 6 p.m. before a 4 p.m. contest against Berea College in Berea, Kentucky on Saturday.
