MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Brevard College men's soccer team (5-1-2) defeated host Pfeiffer (3-4-0), 1-0, in a midweek, non-conference contest on Wednesday evening in Misenheimer, North Carolina.  With the win, the Tornados extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches.

Sophomore captain Sam O'Callaghan, a defender from Wicklow, Ireland, scored the game's lone goal on a penalty kick in the 18th minute. It marked the second career goal for O'Callaghan, a Spring 2021 First-Team All-West Division selection.

Following the O'Callaghan goal, the two teams went scoreless for the final 72 minutes of the match as the Tornados held on to the 1-0 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Thiago Leopardi earned his second career shutout, blanking the Falcons while registering three saves.  Starting defenders O'Callaghan, Igor da Silva, Rocco Barbon and Adan Miller limited Pfeiffer's offense all evening en route to the clean sheet.

In total, Pfeiffer outshot Brevard 8-7 with each team firing off four shots-on-goal.  The Falcons also led in corner kicks, 6-3, yet were unable to convert any of their opportunities into goals.

Ryan Lynch and Facundo Sunhary led the Tornados in shots each firing off two attempts at the net, with one on-goal.  Wendel Lima and Ryan Sinkamba each registered one shot as well for the Tornados.

Brevard returns to USA South Conference play on Saturday with a highly anticipated rematch of the Spring 2021 USA South Conference West Division Championship against Covenant College (5-3-1) on Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  Kickoff for the conference matchup is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.  In last Spring's championship contest, Brevard and Covenant finished in a 4-4 draw after 110 minutes.  The Tornados claimed a 5-3 victory in penalty kicks to earn the Spring 2021 USA South West Division Championship.
