BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College Men's Soccer team (0-1) dropped its season-opening match of the Fall 2021 season in a 3-1 defeat to non-conference foe Carolina University (1-0) on Thursday night at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

After a defensive-heavy start to the match with neither team creating significant scoring opportunities, Brevard broke the scoreless deadlock in the 41st minute.  After a diving save by Carolina's goalkeeper, BC sophomore Tino Onetto followed up with authority to place the rebound squarely into the back of the net.  It marked the first career goal in a Tornado uniform for Onetto, a sophomore from Montevideo, Uruguay.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the visiting Bruins came from behind with three goals in the second half to take the victory.  Carolina scored back-to-back goals in the first eight minutes of the second stanza to tie the match, then take the lead 2-1.  In the final minute of the match. the Bruins found the back of the net a third time to put away the contest.

BC outshot the Bruins 14-10 in the game, including a whopping 10-2 advantage in the first half.  Carolina responded in the second half with an 8-4 shot advantage en route to the come-from-behind win.

Three Tornados registered multiple shots offensively with Ryan Lynch (four shots) to go along with Luis dos Santos and Inigo Satrustegui, who each fired off two shots.

Brevard will look to bounce back on Saturday at 4 p.m. with a home non-conference match vs. Methodist at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
