BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (2-11, 1-7 USAS) dropped a road contest at USA South Conference leader Southern Virginia (11-4, 8-0 USAS) on Saturday at Knight Stadium in Buena Vista, Virginia.
Trystan Wallace led BC with two goals on a team-high eight shots and one assist. Atticus Cooper scored two goals, executing on both of his shots on goal. Frankie Howard registered one goal and one assist. Jacob Gravely added a goal, while Evan Francois dished out an assist.
Brevard goalkeeper Devin McCarragher registered 18 saves in a busy day in front of the net.
BC hung with Southern Virginia for much of the opening quarter. A goal by Wallace made the score 2-1 after the Knights opened the game with two goals. Cooper added a goal on an assist from Francois with 2:51 left to play in the period followed by a late-quarter goal by Gravely to make the score 7-3 to close out the stanza.
Southern Virginia outscored the Tornados 10-3 in the second quarter, then shut out BC for the second half to take the victory and remain undefeated in the conference.
Brevard will host its season-finale and Senior Day on Saturday, April 30 vs. Piedmont at 12 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
