Panthers Use Big Second Half to Sprint Past Tornados in LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Brevard College men's lacrosse team (1-9, 0-5 USA South) fell in USA South Conference action to LaGrange College (6-6, 3-2 USAS), 21-6, on Saturday afternoon in LaGrange, Georgia.

The Panthers were able to outscore the Tornados 13-2 in the second half en route to the 15 goal victory.

Evan Francois and Andrew McDonald each scored a pair of goals to lead the Brevard offense, while Atticus Cooper and Nate Stone also scored goals. Trystan Wallace dished out a team-high two assists, while freshman goalkeeper Jack Hicks (0-3) made a career-high 19 saves.

Four Panther attackers turned in hat tricks as the hosts totaled 21 goals on the afternoon. LaGrange won 27-of-30 faceoff attempts, gathered 40 ground balls to Brevard's 14, and outshot the Tornados 60-22.

LaGrange scored the game's first two goals before Brevard's Cooper and Stone logged goals to tie things up, 2-2. With just three seconds left, the Panthers scored a goal that regained them the lead, 3-2, heading into the second period.

Brevard was able to keep it a one-score game after goals from Francois and McDonald, but the Panthers ended the first half on a 3-0 scoring run to take an 8-4 advantage at the intermission.

The third quarter proved to be very low-scoring, as the Panthers put in two goals and held Brevard scoreless to extend their lead to a 10-4 margin.

LaGrange went on to outscore Brevard 11-2 down the stretch to clinch the 21-6 triumph.

Brevard returns to play on Wednesday, April 16 in Misenheimer, North Carolina against Pfeiffer University at 5 p.m.
