BREVARD, N.C. – Sophomore guard Kavan Horton earned the final USA South Conference Basketball Rookie of the Week award of the 2022-23 campaign, winning the honor for consecutive weeks to close out the regular season.
Horton, a sophomore from Asheville, North Carolina, scored 18 points with seven rebounds, one assist, and one block in the only game last week for the Tornados, an 80-67 loss to USA South foe William Peace.
Horton finished strong for the Tornados in the 2022-23 season, scoring in double figures in 11 out of the final 15 games for Brevard. The sophomore averaged 8.5 points-per-game while grabbing 4.3 rebounds per contest, and hauled down six or more rebounds in seven of the last nine games for Brevard.
Horton's honor gives BC a grand total of 37 weekly awards from the USA South so far in 2022-23.
