Tornados Score Season-Best 97 in Road Win at Bob Jones

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Brevard College Men's Basketball team (3-6) defeated Bob Jones University (3-4), 97-89, on Saturday afternoon at Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Tornados claim victory while splitting the season series with the host Bruins after dropping an earlier contest with the hosts at the Boshamer Gymnasium, 86-81. 

LB Boyette scored a team-high 18 points for the Tornados while shooting 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Paris Crawford, a senior guard, scored a career-high 14 points with four rebounds on 5-of-11 shooting from the field. 

Freshman forward Jadon Carnes and senior guard Quincy Carter each scored 13 points to round out the Tornado double-figure scorers, while Charles Reed added nine points to Garrett Sutherland's and Carson Evans' eight-point outputs. 

Carter and Kavan Horton contributed on the defensive end, as they both totaled a pair of steals each defensively. 

Brian Sims scored a game-high 23 points, while Henry Blair added 15 points offensively. Kenney Garcia and Stephan Hughley logged 13 points each for the host Bruins.

The Tornados slightly outshot BJU, 53% to BJU's 50% from the field. BC added 42 points in the paint with 45 points off the bench to keep BC's comeback attempt alive. 

The contest featured five lead changes and a pair of ties in the matchup. 

Brevard and Bob Jones combined for 91 points in a closely-contested first half for both sides. 

Following a Boyette 3-pointer, the Tornados led by 11 points, 64-53. The Bruins kept the deficit within an attainable margin, cutting the deficit within seven points, 84-77, with 4:40 left to play. The Tornados were able to wrap up the road victory, closing the rally up with a Carnes layup assisted by Horton to earn the eight-point road victory. 

BC takes Christmas off before facing The University of the South and Oglethorpe University in the Jack Berkshire Classic hosted in Atlanta by Oglethorpe on December 29-30 prior to the New Year.
