  • Brevard Basketball Announces Dates for Annual Brevard Basketball Camp

    The Brevard College Men's Basketball program has announced the dates and times for the annual Brevard Basketball Camp.   The first camp will take place from June 26-26, with the second camp being held from July 24-27. Both camps will take place inside the Boshamer Gymnasium on the campus of Brevard College. 
  • Garrett Sutherland of Brevard College Named Men’s Basketball Academic All-District

    Brevard College Men’s Basketball student-athlete Garrett Sutherland has been named a 2022-23 Academic All-District honoree, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).  Sutherland now advances to the ballot for the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-America team.
  • Brevard’s Season Concludes in Semifinals of USA South Conference Tournament

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (10-17) concluded its successful 2022-23 campaign in the 2023 USA South Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals, falling 77-55 to NC Wesleyan University (19-7) on Thursday evening in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Junior guard LB Boyette led all Tornados with 12 points and three made 3-pointers offensively. Sophomore guard Kavan Horton added 11 points and a team-high five rebounds, while Quincy Carter totaled seven points and grabbed four boards.
  • Tornados Take 90-84 Road Win at Pfeiffer to Advance in USA South Tourney

    The fifth-seeded Brevard College men’s basketball team (10-16) went on the road and defeated host Pfeiffer University (10-16), 90-84, in the First Round of the USA South Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament played Tuesday night in Misenheimer, North Carolina.  The victory marked the program’s first postseason win in the USA South Conference and the program’s first postseason victory since the 2010 South Athletic Conference Tournament.
  • Horton Selected as Final Rookie of the Week of 2022-23 Season, Goes Back-to-Back

    Sophomore guard Kavan Horton earned the final USA South Conference Basketball Rookie of the Week award of the 2022-23 campaign, winning the honor for consecutive weeks to close out the regular season. Horton, a sophomore from Asheville, North Carolina, scored 18 points with seven rebounds, one assist, and one block in the only game last week for the Tornados, an 80-67 loss to USA South foe William Peace.
  • Tornados Drop Road Game at WPU in Regular Season Finale; Earn Five-Seed in USA South Tournament

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (9-16, 5-9 USAS) dropped its regular-season finale 80-67 to host William Peace University (16-8, 11-3 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Brevard advances to the USA South Conference Championship Tournament where the Tornados will play at Pfeiffer University in first-round action on Tuesday. The appearance will mark the second-consecutive season Sophomore guard Kavan Horton led the Tornados with 18 points and seven rebounds.  Horton, a native of Asheville, North Carolina, has scored in double-figures in nine of the last 13 games of the regular season. Both his points and rebounding totals on Saturday were just one shy of matching his career marks in those departments.
  • Horton Named USA South MBB Rookie of the Week

    Sophomore guard Kavan Horton was named as the USA South Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week after helping the Tornados to a 2-1 week in conference action. Horton, a sophomore from Asheville, North Carolina, averaged 9.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.3 steals as the Tornados went 2-1 last week against USA South foes. In a 74-72 win over Greensboro, Horton scored six points with nine rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block. In a 77-72 victory over Methodist, Horton totaled nine points, six rebounds, three assists, and one block. Finally, in a 74-68, overtime, loss to N.C. Wesleyan, Horton contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
  • Brevard Takes First-Place NC Wesleyan to Overtime, Falls 74-68 on Senior Day

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (9-15, 5-8 USA South) battled NC Wesleyan University (20-4, 12-1 USAS), taking the first-place Battling Bishops to overtime before ultimately falling 74-68 in a Sunday afternoon thriller at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The Tornados honored their senior class prior to the action, as players Quincy Carter, Paris Crawford, Eli Kessinger, David Sealy, and Chancey Watson as well as senior student manager Timiah McGhee were all honored before the contest.
  • Tornados Hit Season-High 14 Threes, Hold On for Pivotal 77-72 Conference Win

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (9-14, 5-7 USA South) hit a season-best 14 3-pointers and held off a late rally to defeat Methodist University (1-22, 1-11 USAS), 77-72, on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium. The victory gives BC its most single-season wins since the 2014-15 campaign when the Tornados won 12 contests.
  • Brevard Withstands Greensboro’s Second-Half Surge for Home Conference Win

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (8-14, 4-7 USA South) used a big first half and withstood a second-half surge from Greensboro College (10-12, 5-6 USAS) to take a critical two-point USA South Conference victory, 74-72, on Tuesday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.  Brevard outpaced the Pride 45-26 in the first half before Greensboro mounted an impressive comeback attempt that came up just short as the Pride outscored BC 46-29 in the second half, giving the Tornados the two-point win. 
  • Brevard Holds On for Pivotal Conference Win at Southern Virginia, 71-68

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (7-14, 3-7 USA South) picked up a critical road victory against Southern Virginia University (11-10, 4-6 USAS), 71-68, on Saturday afternoon in Buena Vista, Virginia. Freshman forward Jadon Carnes, the reigning USA South Rookie of the Week, enjoyed another stellar performance individually scoring 18 points on a highly efficient 9-of-12 mark from the field with five rebounds as well. Senior guard Quincy Carter added 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting and a team-high three made 3-pointers, while LB Boyette poured in 14 points with five assists and two made 3-pointers off the bench. Junior guard Charles Reed scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds, while Kavan Horton led all Tornados with seven boards.

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (6-14, 2-7 USAS) fell 91-71 in USA South Conference action to visiting Mary Baldwin University (10-9, 5-3 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
  • Five Tornados Reach Double Figures in Tuesday Road Setback to Falcons

    Five players scored in double figures, but the Brevard College men's basketball team (6-13, 2-6 USA South) fell 87-78 to Pfeiffer University (7-9, 3-3 USAS) on Tuesday evening at Merner Gym in Misenheimer, North Carolina.  All five of BC's starters in the contest - Jadon Carnes, Quincy Carter, Carson Evans, Kavan Horton, and Garrett Sutherland - totaled double-digit scoring totals for the Tornados in the loss.  Horton, a sophomore guard from Asheville, North Carolina, totaled a career-best 19 points alongside six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Carnes added a career-high 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor.  Carter scored 13 points with five rebounds and three assists, while Sutherland added 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Evans rounded out the Tornado starters with 10 points and a pair of 3-pointers made. 
  • Pacers Edge Tornados 82-78 in Tight USA South Battle

    Senior guard Quincy Carter scored a team-high 19 points, including 14 in the second half to help mount a comeback attempt, but the Brevard College men’s basketball team (6-12, 2-6 USA South) fell in a close 82-78 matchup to William Peace University (12-6, 7-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Carter, a senior from Decatur, Georgia, scored 19 points off the bench as one of four Tornados to reach double figures. Jadon Carnes added 13 points on a 5-of-7 mark from the field, while Carson Evans scored 13 points on a 5-of-8 mark. Kavan Horton pitched in 11 points with a team-best five rebounds and three assists off the bench as well, as Charles Reed and Garrett Sutherland each totaled seven points apiece. 
  • Back-to-Back Road Conference Wins for Tornados as BC Takes Down Greensboro

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (6-11, 2-4 USAS) defeated host Greensboro (7-9, 2-3 USAS) 70-63 in USA South Conference competition on Wednesday night in Greensboro, North Carolina.  The win gave the Tornados back-to-back road victories in league play after defeating Methodist on Sunday in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
  • Tornados Hold Off Monarchs for First USA South Win of Season

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (5-11, 1-4 USA South) held off the Methodist University Monarchs (0-15, 0-4 USAS) 77-72 for its first conference victory of the 2022-23 season on Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  Senior guard Chancey Watson led all Tornados with 18 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-10 from the field with a 4-of-6 mark from beyond the 3-point line, pacing five Tornados who scored in double figures. Freshman forward Jadon Carnes added 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting, while Garrett Sutherland logged 14 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Kavan Horton pitched in 12 points with six rebounds and three assists, and Carson Evans tallied 10 points. 
  • Tornados Drop League Tilt at NC Wesleyan

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (4-11, 0-4 USAS) dropped a USA South Conference matchup 80-52 to host N.C. Wesleyan (11-4, 3-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Brevard was led by sophomore guard Kavan Horton who scored 13 points to go along with three steals and three rebounds.  It marked the third straight game that the Asheville, North Carolina native has scored in double figures.
  • Tornados Drop Conference Matchup to Falcons

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (4-10, 0-3 USAS) lost a USA South Conference matchup 88-59 to Pfeiffer University (4-7, 1-1 USAS) on Tuesday night at the Boshamer Gymnasium. Freshman Jadon Carnes led Brevard offensively with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, while grabbing four rebounds.  BC’s Kavan Horton and Chancey Watson also scored in double figures, each scoring 10 points.
  • BC Falls to SVU in Home Conference Opener

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (4-9, 0-2 USAS) fell to Southern Virginia University (8-5 1–1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in the home conference opener for the Tornados at the Boshamer Gymnasium.  The matchup marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools with the league schedule now underway for the newly aligned USA South Conference.
  • Tornados Drop Conference Opener in Tight Road Affair

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (4-8, 0-1 USAS) dropped its USA South Conference opener 84-77 to host Mary Baldwin University (6-6, 1-0 USAS) on Wednesday afternoon in Staunton, Virginia.  The tight contest featured nine tied scores and four lead changes. Senior guard Quincy Carter led the Tornados with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Carter also went 6-of-8 from the free throw line as 14 of his points came in the second half.  In addition, the native of Decatur, Georgia added five rebounds and three assists.
  • Tornados Conclude Jack Berkshire Classic on Friday, Fall to Sewanee

    The Brevard College Men’s Basketball team (4-7) fell 85-68 to the University of the South (8-4) at the Jack Berkshire Classic hosted by Oglethorpe University on Friday afternoon.  LB Boyette led all Tornado scorers with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Sly White added 15 points off the bench with seven made field goals. Quincy Carter logged seven boards while Chancey Watson added six rebounds. Boyette was selected to the all-tournament team for the Jack Berkshire Classic. 
  • Evans Scores Career-High 20 as Tornados Complete Season Sweep of Oglethorpe

    Junior guard Carson Evans scored a career-high 20 points as the Brevard College men’s basketball team (4-6) completed a season sweep over Oglethorpe University (4-6), 75-70, on day one of the Jack Berkshire Classic hosted by Oglethorpe on Thursday afternoon.  Evans, a guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, surged for 20 points on seven made field goals, including a career-high six made 3-pointers. LB Boyette added 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while reigning USA South Rookie of the Week Jadon Carnes reached double figures with an 11-point performance. Quincy Carter stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while Sly White scored six points off the bench. 
  • Tornados Score Season-Best 97 in Road Win at Bob Jones

    The Brevard College Men’s Basketball team (3-6) defeated Bob Jones University (3-4), 97-89, on Saturday afternoon at Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina. The Tornados claim victory while splitting the season series with the host Bruins after dropping an earlier contest with the hosts at the Boshamer Gymnasium, 86-81.  LB Boyette scored a team-high 18 points for the Tornados while shooting 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Paris Crawford, a senior guard, scored a career-high 14 points with four rebounds on 5-of-11 shooting from the field. 
  • Sly White Posts Career Night; Tornados Fall in One-Point Thriller

    Brevard College’s Sly White totaled a career-best performance, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double, but the BC men’s basketball team (2-5) fell in a nail-biting finish, 75-74, to Johnson & Wales Charlotte (5-6) on Thursday night in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • Men’s Basketball Scores Season-High in 96-82 Home Win Over Oglethorpe

    The Brevard College men’s basketball team (2-4) scored a season-high 96 points en route to a 14-point victory, 96-82, over Oglethorpe University (3-4) on Monday evening at the Boshamer Gymnasium.  For the second-consecutive contest, senior guard Quincy Carter led the Tornados offensively in the winning effort, tallying 26 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting from the field with three made 3-pointers. The Decatur, Georgia native added to his offensive output with an all-around effort, grabbing six rebounds while also logging three assists and two steals.
