Brevard Drops Conference Road Game to Hot-Shooting LaGrange

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (5-12, 3-4) fell in a USA South Conference matchup to LaGrange College (10-9, 5-1 USAS) 102-67 on Sunday, concluding a 1-1 weekend for the Tornados in league play. Thanks 

Ryan Smith scored a career-best 14 points off the bench, making five field goals including three 3-pointers, while Chancey Watson added 14 points in reserve action. David Sealy scored 10 points with two 3-pointers. 

LaGrange had five players reach double figure scoring totals, led by Bershard Edwards who had 23 points. 

The Panthers hit 41-of-59 of their field goal attempts - a 70% clip - that included a 64% mark from long distance. LaGrange was able to outrebound the Tornados 34-22, in addition to dishing out 22 assists and outpacing the Tornados in the paint, 50-22. 

LaGrange led for the duration of the game, opening the contest up on a 29-7 scoring stretch. The Panthers led by as many as 32 points, 51-19, before taking a 51-22 lead into the locker rooms. 

The second half proved more highly contested, with the Panthers narrowly outscoring the Tornados 49-45 in the stanza as LaGrange closed out its conference victory, 102-67. 

The Tornados return to action with a non-conference home matchup against Bob Jones on Friday, February 4 at 7 p.m.
