Men’s Basketball Releases 2021-22 Schedule

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College men's basketball program, under the direction of 10th year Head Coach Lee Burgess and third-year Assistant Coach Miles Leathers, has released its full schedule of competitions for the upcoming 2021-22 season. The schedule features 25 total contests, including 23 regular-season games and a pair of exhibitions at NCAA DI institutions – with 12 USA South Conference matchups and 10 total contests inside of the Boshamer Gymnasium.

"It is exciting to see a full schedule for this year," commented Coach Burgess. "Our guys are getting ready for practice to begin, and it is a much more exciting process when you have something to point towards. We have some really good teams on our non-conference schedule, so that will help get our team ready for a very competitive USA South Conference schedule. Every opportunity to compete is a gift, so we are looking forward to the upcoming 2021-22 season."

The Tornados kick off their 2021-22 schedule with a trip down to Atlanta to face Oglethorpe University on Saturday, November 6 at 3 p.m. Brevard will then make a brief trip up I-26 to visit NCAA DI UNC-Asheville on Thursday, November 11, with start time to-be-announced. The contest will mark the second time in three seasons that the Tornados will have visited their local WNC-area DI counterparts.

Friday, November 12 marks the first home contest for Brevard, as the Tornados play host to Berry College at 6 p.m. Brevard will then travel to Sewanee, Tennessee for a date with The University of the South on Tuesday, November 16, marking the third Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opponent for Brevard on their non-conference schedule.

BC will return to the confines of The Bosh on Saturday, November 20 in a 4 p.m. tip against Greensboro College before closing out the month of November on Tuesday, November 30 at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina in a 7 p.m. start time.

December kicks off with a road trip to Emory & Henry College on Friday, December 3 at 5 p.m. in Emory, Virginia, followed by a quick excursion to nearby Swannanoa, North Carolina to take on Warren Wilson College on Tuesday, December 7 at 6 p.m.

The Tornados will open up USA South play at home on Saturday, December 11, taking on Berea College at the Boshamer Gymnasium at 2 p.m., before taking a brief two-game break from conference action to take on USC-Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday, December 18 in an exhibition. BC closes out 2021 with a New Year's Eve showdown vs. Ferrum College at The Bosh at 2 p.m.

2022 begins on Tuesday, January 4 when Brevard hits the road to travel to Maryville, Tennessee to take on Maryville College at 4 p.m. BC then takes another two-game break from conference action, traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina for a rematch with Greensboro College on Friday, January 7 at 5 p.m. before heading to Raleigh, North Carolina for a 2 p.m. test against William Peace University on Sunday, January 9.

USA South Conference play rolls on when the Tornados return home to face Huntingdon College on Saturday, January 15 at 4 p.m. BC then embarks on a two-game road trip, visiting Lookout Mountain, Georgia on Tuesday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. vs. Covenant College before trekking to Berea, Kentucky for a rematch against Berea on Saturday, January 22 at 2 p.m.

Piedmont University visits the Boshamer Gymnasium for a midweek clash on Tuesday, January 25 at 7 p.m. before a two-game weekend road trip in Montgomery, Alabama vs. Huntingdon (Saturday, Jan. 29, 3 p.m.) and in LaGrange, Georgia vs. LaGrange College (Sunday, Jan. 30, 1 p.m.).

The final month of the season kicks off on Thursday, February 3 when BC matches up against Bob Jones at The Bosh, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. The Tornados then play host to Maryville on Tuesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. and Covenant on Saturday, February 12 at 4 p.m. BC's final road contest is a trip down to Demorest, Georgia to play Piedmont on Tuesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. before closing out the regular season on Saturday, February 19 against LaGrange at 2 p.m.

The 2021-22 USA South Men's Basketball Tournament is slated to begin on Tuesday, February 22 with first-round action. The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, February 25, with the championship set for Saturday, February 26.

Coming off a seven-game pandemic shortened 2020-21 season, the Brevard men's basketball team is geared up for a full season of competition. The Tornados return several key contributors from last season, including sophomore LB Boyettte and junior David Sealy, who ranked second and third on the Tornados in scoring last season, respectively. BC returns 17 players from last season in total, while welcoming six newcomers to the team.
