BREVARD, N.C. – Junior defensive back Joc Pledger was honored by D3football.com after his two-turnover performance in Brevard's 27-7 victory over Greensboro, earning a Team of the Week selection for the third time in his BC career.
Pledger, a native of Monroe, Georgia, picked off a Greensboro pass and also forced a fumble on his lone tackle of the contest. So far in the Fall season, Pledger has racked up 29 tackles with an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
The junior was selected as a D3football.com Preseason All-American Second Team selection following a breakout Spring 2021 season that saw Pledger garner Preseason All-American Second Team honors from D3football.com after tallying five interceptions in just five games.
Over 18 games played in his career at defensive back, the Exercise Science major has totaled 80 total tackles, three forced fumbles, three tackles-for-loss, and a fumble recovery to go alongside 12 pass breakups. Impressively, Pledger has picked off 10 career passes, which places him second all-time for Brevard College Football. His interception Saturday vaulted Pledger over former teammate Quentin Jackson (2017-21, 9 INT's) and places Pledger just one shy of the record held by Michael Gist (2008-11, 11 INT's).

Pledger and the rest of the Tornados are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 9 when Brevard takes on Maryville College for Homecoming 2021 at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
