  • Brevard College Places Record 167 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference List

    Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year. BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.

    BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College football program, under the direction of Head Coach Bill Khayat, has announced its schedule for the Fall 2022 season of competition. BC’s slate features five home games and five road tests in its 10-week regular season schedule, as the Tornados eye a USA South Conference Championship and an automatic bid into the 2022 NCAA DIII Football Tournament.

    Brevard College football student-athlete Justin Parker has been named to the 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for combined performance on the field and in the classroom. It marks the second straight season that Parker has earned the elite academic and athletic honor.
  • Tornados Rack Up 10 Postseason Awards, Land Five on First Team; Canady Named USA South Defensive Player of the Year

    The Brevard College football team collected 10 total postseason awards from the USA South Conference on Wednesday. Five Tornados – Dante Anderson, Jerome Bass, Steffon Canady, Stamati Damalos, and Brandon Unangst - landed on the All-Conference First Team. Toby Naylor, Brandon Norris, and Mitchell Yoder were all named Second Team selections, while Luis Alvarez represented Brevard on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Steffon Canady was voted as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, giving the Tornado football program its first major award from the USA South since 2018 when fellow senior Dalton Cole was voted as league Offensive Rookie of the Year.

    Junior running back Mitchell Yoder rushed for the most yards by a Tornado in the DIII-era and the fourth-most in single-game program history, however, the Brevard College football team (5-4, 5-2 USAS) fell to the Methodist Monarchs (5-2, 5-1 USAS) on a last-minute touchdown on Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

    The Brevard College football team (5-3, 5-1 USAS) edged out a gritty 7-3 victory against Southern Virginia University (1-6, 1-4 USAS) on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. The Tornados tied a school record with nine quarterback sacks in the contest, while Head Coach Bill Khayat recorded the 25th win of his career to become the winningest coach in the history of BC Football.

  • Canady Earns National Honor after Leading Dominant Defensive Performance

    Following the first shutout for Brevard College football since the 2014 season, and the first against an NCAA opponent in program history, senior linebacker Steffon Canady was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Canady, a senior hailing from Glendale, Arizona, was heavily involved in the impressive defensive showing for the Tornados in their 31-0 victory over Maryville College on Homecoming. The linebacker totaled three quarterback sacks, pushing his program-record total to 18 for his Tornado career, while also forcing a pair of fumbles and recovering one. Canady also tallied five tackles and three quarterback hurries in the victory.

  • Pledger Earns Third National Weekly Honor of Career

    Junior defensive back Joc Pledger was honored by D3football.com after his two-turnover performance in Brevard’s 27-7 victory over Greensboro, earning a Team of the Week selection for the third time in his BC career. Pledger, a native of Monroe, Georgia, picked off a Greensboro pass and also forced a fumble on his lone tackle of the contest. So far in the Fall season, Pledger has racked up 29 tackles with an interception, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
  • Damalos Named Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week

    Brevard College football senior placekicker Stamati Damalos was honored by the USA South after BC’s 27-7 victory over Greensboro last Saturday, earning Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Damalos, a native of Tarpon Springs, Florida, drilled two of his three field goal attempts in the Greensboro win while also connecting on all three of his extra-point attempts.
  • BC Uses Big Rushing Day for 27-7 Triumph over Greensboro

    The Brevard College football team (2-3, 2-1 USAS) used a big day on the ground to help lift itself to a 27-7 victory over Greensboro College (0-4, 0-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon.  The Tornados rushed for a season-high 309 yards while totaling 390 yards of total offense. BC's impressive day on the ground consisted of 16 first downs via rushes and 6.4 yards-per-carry.  Junior running back Mitchell Yoder dashed for 100 yards on 16 carries to mark the second 100-yard performance of his career. Sophomore Devonte Murray rushed for 69 yards while sophomore Deshonte Kirkland added 65 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Freddie Aiken II pushed ahead for 61 yards on seven carries, featuring a game-long 40-yard scamper. Aiken, Kirkland, and Murray all logged career-highs in the contest on the ground. On the defensive end, Dante Anderson, Tyler Harrison, and Joc Pledger all logged interceptions. Harrison returned a 75-yard pick-six to the house to help the Tornados to the victory. Pledger, a native of Monroe, Georgia, and a Spring 2021 All-American, also forced a fumble as BC's defense forced a season-high four turnovers.  Steffon Canady and Wyatt Lankford each tallied a sack in the contest, while Anderson and Canady recorded five tackles apiece. Stamati Damalos hit two field goals and three extra points to build on his impressive season.

    Junior running back Mitchell Yoder scored a pair of touchdowns, while senior tight end Jaden O'Leary hauled down his first career touchdown reception as the Brevard College football team (1-2, 1-0 USAS) picked up its first victory in its USA South Conference opener against NC Wesleyan College (0-3, 0-1 USAS), 32-7, on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Apprentice Prevails in Overtime Thriller, 34-27

    A spirited comeback attempt by the Brevard College football team (0-2), including 10 unanswered points in the final 4:09 of regulation, came up just short as the Apprentice School Builders (1-0) scored a touchdown and stopped the BC offense in overtime to claim a 34-27 victory on Saturday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
  • Brevard Stifled in Season-Opener at DII Shorter

    The Brevard College football team (0-1) opened its Fall 2021 season up on the road, falling 38-14 to NCAA Division II Shorter University football on Saturday afternoon at Barron Stadium.  Junior wide receiver Cedric Brooks put together a career day on the offensive side of the ball for the Tornados, wrangling down a career-high nine receptions for a career-best 155 yards, while also throwing for a touchdown to fellow wideout Dalton Cole and rushing for 27 yards.
