Oehler Becomes First Tornado to Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

BREVARD, N.C. - Sophomore first baseman Cale Oehler became the first Brevard College baseball student-athlete in the NCAA D3 era to collect All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, as the Charlotte, North Carolina native was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Region 6 All-Region Third Team.

Oehler, a second-year Tornado, joins BC alumnus Huntley Hacker '21 and fellow teammate Logan Clark as Tornados to earn All-Region accolades from a national organization over the course of the D3 era. Hacker was an All-South Region Third Team selection in 2021 by D3baseball.com, while Clark secured Region Rookie of the Year honors that same season.

Oehler was a spark plug offensively for the Tornados during their 2023 run, as he totaled 48 hits, 42 runs scored, 25 extra-base hits (17 doubles, four triples, four home runs), and 40 RBIs. Oehler hit for a .318 average with a .407 on-base percentage and a .563 slugging percentage in 42 games played in 2023. Oehler led the team in extra-base hits, doubles, home runs, and RBIs and was second ninth in the team in runs scored.

In two years donning the blue and white, Oehler has amassed 88 hits, 29 doubles, eight home runs, 64 runs scored, and 78 runs driven in.

BC's 2023 campaign was one of the most successful seasons in the program's 15-year NCAA history. The Tornados finished with 20-plus wins (22) for the second-consecutive season and earned the first two playoff wins in program NCAA-era history.
