BREVARD, N.C. – Freshman infielder Frankie Vasquez was selected as the USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this year after a big weekend in Brevard College's three-game sweep over Berea.
Vasquez, hailing from Pembroke Pines, Florida, went a combined 5-for-9 (.556) with a .643 on-base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, eight RBI, two doubles, three walks, one stolen base, and one sacrifice fly as the Tornados swept a three-game series from USA South foe Berea last week.
The honor marks the seventh Rookie of the Week accolade won by the BC baseball team in 2022, with teammate Cale Oehler winning the award for three consecutive weeks in March. Freshman left-handed pitcher Noah Webb won Rookie Pitcher of the Week accolades and senior LHP Matthew Scavotto garnered Pitcher of the Week honors earlier in the season.
Vasquez's accolade gives Brevard 29 USA South Conference weekly awards won by a Brevard College student-athlete in the 2021-22 season.
Vasquez and the Tornados gear up for a non-conference home contest against Bob Jones University on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Gil Coan Field.
