BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College baseball team led by third-year Head Coach Mike Victory and his staff of Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Rob Julian and Volunteer Assistant Coaches Steve Hucke and Jakob Dennis, have released their schedule for the upcoming 2022 season.

"As a program, we are excited for the 2022 season to get started," commented Coach Victory. "This is a schedule that we are very proud of. It will be great to be back to a full 40-game slate. We will be playing some of the very best in Division III from opening day to the last pitch of the season."

The Tornados are slated for a full 40-game schedule that includes a total of 19 games held at Gil Coan Field. BC will compete in 18 USA South Conference contests.

"In addition to a rigorous USA South schedule, we play tough northern opponents in Case Western and Allegheny College," added Coach Victory. "Our team will be challenged week in and week out, but we would not want it any other way. This is the type of schedule that will have our program prepared to play at its very best in the middle of May."

For the third time in the last four seasons, BC baseball will kick off the 2021 season in Cary, North Carolina at the USA Baseball National Training Complex against William Peace University, slated for Saturday, February 5 at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Brevard's first home series is on Saturday and Sunday, February 12-13 vs. vs. Allegheny College, scheduled for 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and concluding Sunday at 1 p.m. Notably, Allegheny is the alma mater of Coach Julian, while Coach Victory served as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator there before his arrival in Western North Carolina.

BC's DIII non-conference schedule rolls on with a three-day, three-game series at Gil Coan Field vs. Washington and Lee University. BC and W&L match up on Saturday, February 19 at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 20 at 1 p.m., and Monday, February 21 at 3 p.m. BC's month of February wraps up with a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina to take on Greensboro College, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, February 26 at 2 and 5 p.m. and finishing on Sunday, February 27 at 1 p.m.

March kicks off with a three-game set at home against Averett University beginning on Saturday, March 5 at 12 and 3 p.m. and finishing up with a Sunday, March 6 matinee at 1 p.m. BC will continue action over Spring Break on Thursday, March 10 with a neutral-site bout against Case Western Reserve (Cleveland, Ohio) in Lexington, South Carolina at Lexington County Stadium, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. Spring Break concludes with a road trip to Misenheimer, North Carolina to take on Pfeiffer University. The series begins with a 6 p.m. showdown on Saturday, March 12, and concludes with a Sunday, March 13 doubleheader at 1 and 3:30 p.m.

USA South Conference action begins with a three-game, three-day series vs. Maryville College, beginning with a 3 p.m. first pitch at Gil Coan Field on Friday, March 18. The series continues on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. before concluding on Sunday, March 20 at 1 p.m. The Tornados then finish the month of March in Demorest, Georgia for a conference showdown with Piedmont University, beginning on Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m. under the lights. BC and Piedmont then face each other on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m. and wrap up the series on Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m.

BC's road stretch extends into April as the Tornados travel to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to face Covenant College. The series begins with a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday, April 1, and concludes with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 2 at 12 and 3 p.m. Brevard will take a brief dip out of conference play to host Bob Jones University on Tuesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. before returning to conference action with a three-game set against LaGrange College at home. The Tornados and Panthers will meet for a Saturday, April 9 doubleheader at 1 and 4 p.m. before concluding the series on Sunday, April 10 at 1 pm.

The Tornados will make their final conference road trip when BC heads down to Montgomery, Alabama to face Huntingdon College, taking on the Hawks beginning on Friday, April 15 with a doubleheader at 1 and 4 p.m. ET and concluding on Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m.

BC returns to Gil Coan Field for its final home series of 2022 when the Tornados take on Berea College. The Tornados and Mountaineers will face off with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 at 12 and 3:30 p.m. before Senior Day on Sunday, April 24 at 1 p.m.

The Tornados will use their bye week in conference play to stay tuned up with three non-conference contests, beginning with a trip to Greenville, South Carolina to take on Bob Jones at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. BC wraps up the regular season on Sunday, May 1 with a trip to Salem, Virginia to face Roanoke College in a doubleheader scheduled for 2 and 5 p.m.

Brevard will then turn its attention to the USA South Conference Baseball Tournament, which begins with a pair of four-team tournaments on campus sites, held from Thursday-Sunday, May 5-8. The winners of those two tournaments will square off in the 2022 USA South Conference Baseball Championship Series, held Thursday-Saturday, May 12-14, in a best-of-three format.

BC will look to build upon a successful Covid-shortened 2021 campaign that saw the Tornados with a 13-14 record that included a 7-6 record in USA South Conference play. BC's 7-6 mark in USA South matchups gave BC the program's first winning season in conference action since the 2012 season. Brevard's 13 victories were its most since 2016.

Brevard will return 2021 USA South Conference Rookie of the Year and D3baseball.com All-South Region Rookie of the Year Logan Clark, who led all Tornados with five triples to go alongside a team-high .360 average with 32 hits, 16 runs, three doubles, and 15 RBIs. Senior infielder Jason Jucker led all Tornados in 2021 with 37 hits and six doubles while posting 15 runs, 19 RBIs, and a .352 average, while junior outfielder Zach Allison drive in a team-best 20 RBIs and drew a team-high 17 walks alongside scoring a team-best 21 runs. BC's pitching staff will return a majority of its key contributors, including Matthew Scavotto who totaled three wins and a team-low 2.75 ERA among starters with 27 strikeouts. Trenten Anderson and Nathan Sanders also return for the strong Tornado rotation.
