  • Brevard College Baseball Named 2021-22 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Winner

    The Brevard College baseball team has been named a recipient of the 2021-22 ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.  The Tornados earned the award by posting a team GPA of over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2021-22 academic year.
  • Julian Promoted to Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for Brevard College Baseball

    Rob Julian has been elevated to Associate Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for the Brevard College baseball program, announced Head Coach Mike Victory. “This was an easy decision and a great move for our program,” commented Coach Victory. “Much of the growth and success of this program in the last three years can be traced back to the tireless efforts of Coach Julian. His drive to see this program reach its peak is unparalleled. He is more than ready for an expanded role within our program.”
  • Brevard College Places Record 167 Student-Athletes on USA South Academic All-Conference List

    Brevard College placed a school-record 167 student-athletes on the USA South Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021-22 academic year. BC’s 167 academic all-conference selections shatters the previous record of 129 set in 2020-21. Brevard is among the top-five schools in the USA South in total number of honorees, joining Piedmont University (215 honorees), Huntingdon College (199 honorees), Southern Virginia University (197 honorees), and Methodist University (158 honorees) in the top-five of USA South Conference institutions.
  • Vasquez Wins Rookie of the Year; Three Tornados Earn All-Division Honors from USA South

    Freshman infielder Frankie Vasquez was voted as the USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Year, while three Brevard College baseball student-athletes were selected to the USA South West Division Second Team. Vasquez, a freshman from Pembroke Pines, Florida, becomes the second consecutive Tornado to secure Rookie of the Year honors from the USA South with BC outfielder Logan Clark earning the honor in 2021.

  • Vasquez Earns Fifth Rookie of the Week Award of Season

    Freshman third baseman Frankie Vasquez secured his fifth USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week selection of the 2022 season, and Brevard College baseball’s eighth rookie of the week award overall this year. Vasquez, a native of Pembroke Pines, Florida, went a combined 4-for-7 (.571) with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with one run scored, four RBIs, a solo home run, and two walks as the Tornados swept a home-and-home series from Bob Jones University last week.
  • Brevard College Tornado Student-Athletes Honored at 2021-22 BESPYs

    The Brevard College Department of Athletics hosted the 2021-22 BESPYs, the college’s annual Athletic Awards ceremony on Monday, April 25 at the Boshamer Gymnasium. It marked the first in-person BESPYs awards banquet since the Spring of 2019.

  • Brevard Wins 20th Game of 2022 with 15-7 Triumph at Bob Jones

    The Brevard College baseball team (20-15) earned its 20th win of the season in a 15-7 victory over Bob Jones University (7-29) on Tuesday night at Conestee Park in Greenville, South Carolina  The milestone marks the first time that the BC baseball program has reached 20 wins since the 2012 campaign when the Tornados won 27 games and qualified for the SAC Tournament. This marks just the second time in Brevard’s NCAA era that baseball has reached 20 wins in a single season.

    The Brevard College baseball team (19-15, 8-9 USA South) earned an emphatic 14-1 victory to close out a three-game sweep over the Berea College Mountaineers (4-30, 1-14 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.
  • Tornados Dominate Doubleheader on Eve of Senior Day

    The Brevard College baseball team (18-15, 7-9 USAS) dominated both games of a USA South Conference doubleheader with two wins over USA South Conference foe Berea (4-29, 1-13 USAS) on Saturday at Gil Coan Field.  The Tornados outscored the Mountaineers by a total of 25-6 in the doubleheader with the second win coming via run-rule in seven innings. The doubleheader came on the eve of Sunday's Senior Day when four graduating seniors – Jack Atkinson, Christian Ezzell, Jason Jucker and Matthew Scavotto – will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony.
  • Huntingdon Drops Brevard Twice in Friday Doubleheader in Montgomery

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-15, 5-9 USA South) fell in consecutive USA South Conference contests to Huntingdon College (20-11, 8-3 USAS) on Friday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama. The Hawks were able to two-hit the Tornados in a 3-0 shutout victory before both sides exploded offensively in game number two, with Huntington taking a six-run decision, 17-11.
  • Nationally-Ranked Panthers Use Big Fifth Inning to Take Series Sweep over Tornados

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-13, 5-7 USA South) fell in seven innings, 15-3, to nationally-ranked No. 4 LaGrange College (24-3, 8-1 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.  The Panthers scored 14 unanswered runs, including eight in the fifth inning, to take the conference win and sweep the series over Brevard.

Vasquez, a first-year third baseman from Pembroke Pines, Florida went a combined 6-for-13 (.462) with a .533 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, five RBI, one home run, and two walks in the conference series win for Brevard.
  • Brevard Takes Two in Dramatic Fashion, Wins Series at Covenant

    The Brevard College baseball team (16-10, 5-4 USA South) won a pair of one-run USA South Conference games to Covenant College (10-15, 2-7 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Brevard scored six runs in the top of the fourth inning and held on to the lead late for a 6-5 victory in game one before coming from behind, scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning and holding on to an 8-7 win in the rubber match, as BC took two-out-of-three on the weekend.
  • Late Comeback Bid Falls Short for Tornados in Lookout Mountain

    Despite surrendering 13 runs through the first five innings of action, the Brevard College baseball team (14-10, 3-4 USA South) put together a spirited comeback attempt that came up just short, as Covenant College (10-13, 2-5 USAS) held off the Tornados, 14-10 on Friday afternoon in the series opener in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Frankie Vasquez led all Tornado hitters with a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Logan Clark went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while designated hitter Ryan Leiman went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Blake Burchett and Jason Jucker also scored a pair of runs each for the Tornados, who scored a total of 10 runs on 10 hits.
  • Oehler Secures Third Consecutive Rookie of the Week Award from USA South

    For the third consecutive week, freshman infielder Cale Oehler has been selected as the USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week. Oehler, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, went a combined 6-for-13 (.462) with a .533 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, six RBIs, one double, two home runs, and two walks as the Tornados took one of three games from USA South foe Piedmont last week. In the final game of the series, Oehler slugged two home runs, including a grand slam, and put up six RBIs.

    The Brevard College baseball team (14-9, 3-3 USA South) dropped a high scoring affair, 12-11, to Piedmont University (10-10-1, 2-1 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Loudermilk Field in Demorest, Georgia. The Tornados battled back from a 7-2 deficit to take a 10-9 lead before the Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on to the one-run lead through the final three innings to claim the victory.
  • Late Lion Runs Sink Tornados in Demorest

    With the game tied 5-5 in the seventh inning, Piedmont University (9-10-1, 1-1 USA South) scored four out of the last five runs to take a 9-6 victory over the Brevard College baseball team (14-8, 3-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Loudermilk Field in Demorest, Georgia.  The Lions were able to tally a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth inning each to pull away for the win and thwart the Tornado comeback attempt, which began when BC scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, 5-5. 
  • Brevard Sets the Tone with 6-3 Win over Piedmont

    S enior shortstop Jason Jucker hit his first career home run as the Brevard College baseball team (14-7, 3–1 USA South) claimed a 6-3 victory over Piedmont University (8-10-1, 0-1 USAS) in a USA South Conference showdown on Friday night at Loudermilk Field in Demorest, Georgia.
  • Oehler Takes Home Conference Honor for Second-Consecutive Week

    Brevard College freshman infielder Cale Oehler secured his second USA South Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week accolade in as many weeks after helping lead the BC baseball team to a conference series win over Maryville College last weekend. Oehler, a first-year student from Charlotte, North Carolina, went a combined 6-for-9 (.667) with a .750 on-base percentage, and a .889 slugging percentage to go along with two runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base as the Tornados took two of three games from USA South foe Maryville last week. In the series-clinching win, Oehler was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one run batted in, one double, and one stolen base.

    The Brevard College baseball team (13-7, 2-1 USA South) used a four-run fifth inning to retake the lead for good in a rubber match in the series finale against Maryville College (11-6, 1-2 USAS) to clinch a USA South Conference series win on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field.

    The Brevard College baseball team (12-7, 1-1 USA South) split its USA South Conference opening doubleheader against Maryville College (11-5, 1-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. Maryville used a four-run ninth inning to take the first game, while BC held onto a late lead in game two to take a 5-3 victory.

    Brevard College baseball freshman Cale Oehler and Noah Webb swept the USA South Conference’s Rookie awards after stellar performances in last week’s contests. Oehler was named Rookie of the Week, while Webb was selected as Rookie Pitcher of the Week.
  • Extra Inning Marathons End in DH Split for Brevard

    The Brevard College baseball team (11-6) split a pair of non-conference battles with Pfeiffer University (3-5) on Sunday in Misenheimer, North Carolina. Brevard fell in a nine-inning heartbreaker, 6-5, as the Falcons walked the first game of the doubleheader off. BC was able to bounce back, winning a 10-inning marathon, 3-2, to salvage the series split.
  • Tornados Score Nine Unanswered to Down Spartans, 10-5, at Gil Coan Field
    March 10, 2022
    The Brevard College baseball team (10-5) scored nine unanswered runs and shut out Case Western Reserve University (3-5) over the final five innings to complete a 10-5 comeback victory against the Spartans on Thursday at Gil Coan Field. The Tornados posted a run each in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring three in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-5 advantage. Brevard then broke things open in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring four insurance runs to help wrap up the five-run victory.

  • Tornados Prevail in Slugfest over Averett, 13-10

    The Brevard College baseball team (9-5) won the rubber match of a three-game non-conference set against Averett University (2-11), 13-10, on Sunday afternoon at Gil Coan Field. The Tornados scored 13 runs on 19 hits, as Brevard accumulated its second highest hit total of the season and its seventh double-digit hit performance. Everyone in the starting nine for BC had multiple hits in the contest.
