Brevard College Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
The Brevard College Athletic Department promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring a safe and diverse environment for our student-athletes, staff, and coaches.
In order to perform and achieve excellence in the classroom and on the playing field, the acceptance of diversity and inclusion is our priority regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, age, beliefs, economic status, sexual identity, gender identity or religion.
Brevard College seeks to establish and maintain an inclusive community through co-curricular education, community outreach, acceptance, and respect. This will be obtained through an active Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as an engaged DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Committee. This committee is composed of coaches, administrators and student-athletes and has oversight by our NCAA Athletics Diversity & Inclusion Designee. This committee will be tasked with defining yearly goals and initiatives, review policies and best practices concerning diversity and inclusion in athletic department handbooks, as well as a creation and distribution of a monthly newsletter.
