BC Drops Pair in Montgomery   
 
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Brevard College Volleyball team (0-14, 0-2 USAS) dropped a pair of matches to league rivals Huntingdon (11-10, 2-0 USAS) and LaGrange (3-13, 1-1 USAS) to commence USA South Conference play on Saturday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama.
 
In the opening match of the quad-match format, the Tornados took on the host Huntingdon. In the first set, Huntingdon topped Brevard 25-14 to establish an early advantage. The Hawks then took the second set 25-20 before a 25-12 win in set three en route to the straight-set victory.
 
In the Huntingdon contest, Breanna O'Shields led the Tornados offensively with nine kills to go along with seven digs on the defensive side.  Freshman Grace Pukas produced ten assists and ten digs, while libero Mariana Rodriguez recorded ten digs.
 
In the second match of this day, Brevard took on LaGrange in a neutral site, conference contest.  LaGrange won the first set 25-21.  Down a set, the Tornados took the Panthers to the brink in set number two. The back and forth set however ultimately went to LaGrange 28-26. 
 
The Panthers then topped BC 25-17 to take the victory, 3-0.
 
The LaGrange match saw Pukas produce a career-high 28 assists to go along with nine digs.  O'Shields was once again Brevard's leading attacker with 11 kills, while Rodriguez led BC defensively with 28 digs.
 
Brevard will continue USA South Conference play with a trip to Berea, Kentucky for matches vs. host Berea and Maryville on Saturday, October 5.
