Schedule Change To Volleyball Slate on Saturday, Oct. 7

BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard volleyball team moved its scheduled match with Covenant to 2 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Boshamer Gym. The Brevard and Covenant matches against Wesleyan College this weekend will not be played because the Wolves cancelled the remainder of their season.

Brevard (8-3) heads into the match with the opportunity to pick up its ninth win of the campaign. With two more wins this season it would mark the 12th time since the 2000 season, and second time under head coach Anna Grant, that the Tornados won at least 10 matches.

Hannah Elmore, who enjoyed her sixth double-digit kill outing of the season against the Scotties on Wednesday evening, leads the way for the Tornados with 97 strikes. Elmore has two more kills than teammate Rachel Ruble, who owns the best hitting percentage (.244) of any Brevard player with 200 total attacks, and four more than Stephanie Lambert (93 kills).

Brevard's defensive combination of Maggie Weiss (221 digs), Whitney DeMoss (seven solo blocks; 18 total blocks) and Lambert (15 assisted blocks; 17 total blocks) has kept the opposition off balance throughout the season. The Tornados have limited their opposition to a .124 attack percentage in 11 contests, with only West Virginia State, Washington & Lee and Emory & Henry eclipsing the .200 attack percentage in matches this season.

Covenant (11-7) enters the weekend with a perfect 6-0 mark in USA South matches this season. The Scots have won their last three matches and are led on offense by Ginny Moore (211 kills) and Hannah Harris (113). Schuyler Moore has also been instrumental with a team-high 578 assists (8.38 assists/set).

The front row combination of Allie Jakes (61 total blocks) and Chloe Storm (41) have stonewalled the competition for 129 total blocks (25 solo blocks) in 18 matches. The back row is a well-balanced group that includes Ginny Moore (307 digs), Hannah Stewart (243) and Schulyer Moore (203).
