Women’s Tennis Clinches Season Sweep with 6-3 Win Over Pfeiffer

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (3-3) earned a 6-3 match victory over Pfeiffer University (0-5), wrapping up a season sweep over the Falcons, in a Saturday afternoon meeting at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

The Tornados used a pair of doubles victories alongside four singles wins to earn the six points needed to claim the match. 

BC's number-one doubles pairing of Samantha Sepe and Alli Kogoy cruised past Pfeiffer's duo of Haylee Dixon and Sydney Gray, 8-0. Pfeiffer snagged the no. 2 singles victory, 9-7, while BC's number-three duo of Jen Cox and Sarah Iocovozzi earned a hard-fought 9-7 triumph to put the Tornados up by a 2-1 margin after doubles action. 

Sepe, a senior from Niceville, Florida, rolled by a 6-2, 6-1 decision in the number-one spot in singles play. Kogoy cruised in her no. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, while Iocovozzi (no. 5) and Margaret Correll (no. 6) each earned singles wins as well. Freshman Hamrick Perry narrowly fell in three-set fashion despite cruising in the first set, 6-0. Pfeiffer's Dixon came back to win set number two, 6-4, before clinching the match with a 6-3 decision in the final set. 

The Tornados return to action on Saturday, March 7 for their USA South Conference opener at Berea College in Berea, Kentucky at 11 a.m.
