SWEET BRIAR, Va. – The Brevard College Women's Tennis team will take part in the inaugural "Battle of the Blue Ridge" Women's Tennis Tournament in Sweet Briar, Virginia this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 7-8).  Host Sweet Briar College has announced the official draws for the ITA-sanctioned event, pegging senior Tornado student-athlete Samantha Sepe as the number-one overall seed in the Singles Main bracket.

Each set of brackets are in a double-elimination format, where round one winners move on to the "winners" bracket, while round one losers move into the "consolation" bracket. In each bracket, an individual and doubles champion and consolation champion will be crowned.

There are five brackets in total – Singles Main, Singles Pink, Singles Green, Doubles Main, and Doubles Pink. Seeding was determined by each participant's Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), where Sepe ranked tops out of all tournament entrants.

Sepe, a senior hailing from Niceville, Fla., enters her second season as a Tornado after a breakout junior campaign that saw her win a staggering 12-consecutive singles matches at the number-one slot for the Tornados. She was named USA South All-Conference First Team, as well as being selected to the First Team West Division.

In total, five Tornados will be competing in the Singles Main bracket, which is the largest school representation in that bracket. Along with Sepe, juniors Margaret Correll and Jen Cox, along with sophomore Eleanor Flannery and freshman Hamrick Perry are all competing in the Singles Main bracket.

Three Tornados – senior Carmen Boone, junior Mekenzie Bowman, and freshman Sarah Iocovozzi – will be representing Brevard College in the Singles Pink bracket. Freshmen Allison Kogoy and Brooke Garland are competing in the Singles Green bracket.

Over on the doubles side, the Tornados enter five total doubles pairings. In the Doubles Main bracket, two Tornado duos of Sepe/Cox and Correll/Flannery will be competing, while the Doubles Pink bracket features pairings of Iocovozzi/Perry, Garland/Kogoy, and Boone/Bowman.

Four total schools - Brevard College, Catholic University, Shenandoah University, and Sweet Briar College - will take part in the women's tennis tournament.

Updates will be posted when they become available on the Brevard College Tornados Athletics' social media channels and www.bctornados.com
