  • School-Record 129 Tornados Named Academic All-Conference

    A school-record 129 Brevard College student-athletes have been named 2020-21 USA South Academic All-Conference selections. Thirty one of the 128 BC student-athletes also earned “With Distinction” honors for superior academic achievement.

  • Tornados Conclude Postseason Run, Fall 1-0 to Lions

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team (6-2-1) made its first postseason appearance in the USA South Conference on Tuesday evening, falling in a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Piedmont College (8-6-1) in the first round of the West Division Tournament.  Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas (6-2-1) saved a total of seven shots on the evening, while junior defender Emma White led all Tornados with four shots - two of which on-goal. Taylor Richardson, Sallie Riggan, and Ashley Royster also each tallied shots on the evening. 
  • Tornados Host Lions in First Round of USA South West Division Tournament

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team (6-1-1) is set for its first appearance in the USA South Conference postseason this Tuesday, as the Tornados host Piedmont College at Ives-Lemel Family Field at 7 p.m. in the First Round of the USA South West Division Tournament.
  • Women’s Soccer Postseason Match Shifted to Tuesday, April 6 at 7 p.m.

    Brevard College women’s soccer, in conjunction with Piedmont College and the USA South Conference, has announced that its USA South West Division Tournament match will now take place on Tuesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
  • Women's Soccer's Match at Piedmont Postponed

    In accordance with USA South Conference COVID-19 management protocols, the women's soccer match between Brevard College and Piedmont College originally scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. in Demorest, Georgia has been postponed. The institutions will now explore if the contest will be able to be played at a later date.
  • Brevard College Women’s Soccer among Nation’s Statistical Leaders While on Record Unbeaten Streak

    Currently riding an NCAA-era program record six-match unbeaten streak that includes five USA South Conference wins while also having clinched a spot in the Spring 2021 USA South Women’s Soccer West Division Tournament, the Brevard College women’s soccer team ranks near or at the top of several national individual and team statistical categories in the Spring 2021 season. Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas, a native of Murrieta, California, is tied for the national lead with six shutouts as of March 25, as Rojas has anchored the best statistical defense in Brevard’s NCAA era. The veteran shot-stopper helps anchor a back-line that features Lena Hatter, Emma White, Abbie Worsencroft, and Autumn Wright as its primary starters.
  • Women’s Soccer Takes Care of Business on Senior Day

    The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (6-1-1, 6-1 USAS) defeated LaGrange College (2-5, 2-5 USAS), 2-0 in a USA South Conference match on Sunday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Sunday's match was Senior Day for the Tornados as five graduating seniors were recognized for their exceptional careers at BC. Rebeccah Rojas, Hannah Weatherall, Sallie Riggan, Brenna Innis, and Amy Juarez were all celebrated during a pre-game ceremony. Rojas (6-1-1), a senior goalkeeper from Murrieta, California picked up her sixth shutout of the season and contributed with two saves. Sophomore forward and reigning USA South Player of the Week Ashley Royster scored both goals for the Tornados. Royster’s first goal was assisted by Innis and Jessica Tenjhay, with her second goal coming after a dish from Taylor Richardson.
  • Tornados Continue Unbeaten Streak with Draw at Truist Sports Park

    The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (5-1-1) drew with NC Wesleyan College (2-1-2), 0-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas (5-1-1) picked up her fifth shutout of the season as the Tornados held NC Wesleyan scoreless thanks to an impressive defensive effort from Rojas and her back-line of Lena Hatter, Emma White, Abbie Worsencroft, and Autumn Wright. The Murrieta, California native and reigning USA South Defensive Player of the Week made four total saves to keep the clean sheet intact for the Tornados.
  • Tornados Meet Battling Bishops at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem

    The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (5-1) gets ready for a non-conference matchup against North Carolina Wesleyan College (2-1-1) on Wednesday, March 17 at Truist Sports Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Live stats for the matchup will be available to follow along on bctornados.com for the neutral-site contest.  The Tornados are coming off a 1-0 win against Huntingdon College (4-3) last Sunday. The lone goal was scored by sophomore forward Ashley Royster who headed a cross from freshmen Tae Brown into the bottom corner of the Hawk’s goal.

    Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas and sophomore forward Ashley Royster have been selected as USA South Conference Athletes of the Week following their individual performances against Huntingdon in Brevard’s thrilling 1-0 conference victory over Huntingdon on Sunday, in a victory that booked Brevard’s trip to the Spring 2021 USA South Women’s Soccer West Division Tournament. Royster was named the conference’s Player of the Week, while Rojas garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors.
  • Royster’s Header Lifts Tornados Over Hawks, Securing USA South Postseason Berth

    Sophomore forward Ashley Royster put in a Tae Brown cross in the 56th minute to help propel for Brevard College women’s soccer team (5-1, 5-1 USAS) toward its first USA South postseason berth, as the Tornados punched their ticket to the West Division Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Huntingdon College (4-3, 3-2 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field.  With the victory, BC secures its place in the USA South Women’s Soccer West Division Tournament. The berth marks Brevard women’s soccer’s first as a member of the USA South, and first conference-level postseason appearance since the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament. BC’s last overall postseason appearance in women’s soccer came in 2018 when the Tornados were selected to the 2018 ECAC DIII Women’s Soccer Championship.  Royster, a forward from Mooresville, North Carolina, received a ball played in by Brown, directing the cross into the left side of the net past the Hawk goalkeeper.  Senior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas (5-1) registered her fourth shutout of Spring 2021, anchoring an impressive Tornado defensive effort that held Huntingdon scoreless. Rojas, a native of Murrieta, California, stopped six shot attempts en route to the victory. 
  • BC Wins Third Straight with 4-0 Shutout Victory in Macon

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team (4-1, 4-1 USAS) won its third consecutive match with a 4-0 shutout victory over Wesleyan (1-5, 1-3 USAS) on Saturday at Panoz Field in Macon, Georgia. The Tornados extended their winning streak which began on February 21 with a 3-1 win over over Berea and continued with a 4-0 victory at Agnes Scott last week.  Saturday’s win over Wesleyan marked the second straight shutout for Brevard College and the Tornado defense.  Over the streak, the Tornados have outscored their opponents 11-1 in goal differential. Abbie Petrosky opened the scoring for Brevard in the 33rd minute with an unassisted goal as the junior midfielder blasted a shot from outside the penalty box that landed within the inside roof of the net.  Peteosky now leads the team with eight total points on two goals and four assists this season.
  • Tornados Tangle with Wolves on the Road in Macon

    The Brevard College Tornados Women's Soccer team (3-1, 3-1 USAS) gets ready for a USA South Conference matchup on the road against Wesleyan College (1-4, 1-2 USAS) on Saturday, March 6th at 4 p.m. in Macon, Georgia. The Tornados are coming off a 4-0 win against Agnes Scott College last Saturday in Decatur, Georgia. Freshman Abbie Worsencroft and juniors Jessica Tenjhay, Abbie Petrosky, and Alyssa Hetherington all scored for the Tornados. Freshman Tae Brown, sophomore Ashley Royster and Abbie Petrosky recorded assists in this USA South conference matchup. USA South Conference competitor Wesleyan comes off a win against Berea College, 4-2. The Wolves were selected sixth in the USA South Women’s Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll in the West Division.
  • Spectator Guidelines for Brevard College Outdoor Sports in Spring, 2021

    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brevard College has established spectator guidelines for Spring 2021 home, outdoor athletic events. The updated guidelines are in accordance with the adjusted outdoor spectator policy announced by the USA South Conference on February 23. 2021. These regulations apply to the sports of baseball, football, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis at Brevard College.
  • Women’s Soccer Dominates in Decatur

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team (3-1, 3-1 USAS) cruised to a 4-0 USA South Conference victory against Agnes Scott College (0-2, 0-2 USAS) on Saturday afternoon in Decatur, Georgia.  Four different Tornados found the back of the net in the dominant victory that saw Brevard outshoot the host Scotties by a 36-1 margin.  Junior midfielder Abbie Petrosky tallied four points (one goal, two assists) to lead all Tornados on the offensive end. Junior midfielder Alyssa Hetherington notched her first goal of the 2021 Spring season, while Jessica Tenjhay and Abbie Worsencroft each logged their first career goal. Tae Brown and Ashley Royster dished out their first career assists as 13 different Tornados attempted shots in the match. 
  • Women's Soccer Travels to Decatur for Conference Matchup

    The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (2-1, 2-1 USAS) prepares for a USA South Conference matchup against Agnes Scott College (0-1, 0-1 USAS) in Decatur, Georgia, on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Live video of the match can be found at https://team1sports.com/agnesscott/, with live stats found at bctornados.com. The Presidents of the USA South Athletic Conference have agreed to adjust the Conference's policy on spectators attending any outdoor sporting event hosted by a USA South institution regardless of opponent. The amended policy limits spectators to two per participating student-athlete, plus students, faculty and staff of the host institution while abiding with all local and state social distancing and capacity directives. No spectators of visiting teams will be permitted to attend. This adjusted policy will go into effect for all events beginning on Friday, February 26th.

    The Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 USAS) gets ready for a USA South Conference matchup against Berea College on Sunday, February 21.  The Tornados are coming off a 1-0 loss against Maryville College on Wednesday. Reigning USA South Defensive Player of the Week Rebecca Rojas stopped nine shots on a busy night for the Murrieta, California native, as the Scots outshot the Tornados, 25-6.
  • Three Straight Goals Secure Come-From-Behind Win for Tornados

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team (2-1, 2-1 USAS) scored three consecutive goals in a come-from-behind, 3-1 victory over USA South Conference rival Berea College (0-2, 0-2 USAS) on Sunday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. Freshman Taylor Richardson scored two goals, while junior Emma White also found the back of the net to pace the BC offense.  Senior midfielder Abbie Petrosky added an assist.

  • Scots Stump Tornados in Conference Road Match

    The Brevard College women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 USAS) fell in a USA South Conference contest, 2-0 to Maryville College (1-0, 1-0 USAS) Wednesday night in Maryville, Tennessee. Brevard's defense held the Scots until the 34th minute when junior Bailey Sipos opened the scoring for the Scots. The second goal came off the foot of junior forward Taylor Frizen in the 47th minute. Frizen found herself in open space who slotted it past senior goalkeeper Rebecca Rojas.
  • Women’s Soccer’s Richardson and Rojas Earn Weekly Honors

    Brevard College’s Taylor Richardson and Rebeccah Rojas earned USA South Conference weekly awards following their performances in Saturday’s 1-0 triumph over Covenant College at Ives-Lemel Family Field in BC’s season opener. Richardson was selected as the USA South Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week, while Rojas took home USA South Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors. The selections become the first conference honors for Brevard College student-athletes of the 2020-21 athletics season.
  • Richardson’s Header Pushes Tornados Past Scots in Season-Opener

    Taylor Richardson’s first collegiate goal proved vital, as the freshman’s header off an Abbie Petrosky corner kick proved to be the game-winner as the Brevard College women’s soccer team (1-0, 1-0 USAS) held on to defeat the Covenant College Scots (1-1, 0-1 USAS) by a final of 1-0 in BC’s season debut at the newly-expanded Ives-Lemel Family Field on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Richardson, a freshman forward from Seminole, Florida, headed a Petrosky corner kick past the outstretched arms of Covenant goalkeeper Lucy Sandhoff (1-1) on the near post in the 53rd minute of action. The score ended up being the decider in a tightly-contested matchup that saw the Tornados shut out the Scots in the first conference contest for the two sides.
  • Tornados Clash with Covenant to Open Spring Season

    The Brevard College Tornados Women's Soccer team braces for its season-opening game, hosting Covenant College at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday, with kickoff slated for 12 p.m.  BC Women's Soccer is led by Head Coach Juan Mascaro Sr. (sixth season) and Assistant Coach Chelsea Shaughnessy (second season). The Tornados welcome an exciting class of new talent, with eight newcomers alongside 14 returning student-athletes. Goalkeeper Rebecca Rojas returns for the Tornados in net as well as Ashley Royster who scored three goals and Alyssa Hetherington who score two goals last season. USA South Conference rival Covenant comes into play on Saturday with a 1-0 record. The Scots won 2-0 over Birmingham Southern on February 6 in non-conference action. The Scots were selected third in the USA South Women’s Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll in the West Division.
  • Spectator Policy Announced for Brevard College Outdoor Sports

    As a safety measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only Brevard College students, faculty and staff, as well as essential game personnel, will be permitted at outdoor sporting events during the Spring 2021 semester. No outside spectators will be permitted for any athletics event on the Brevard College campus. For those attending the match from the on-campus community, masks and social distancing are required as well as Brevard College identification.
  • BC Women’s Soccer Tabbed Fifth in USA South West Division Preseason Poll

    The Brevard College women’s soccer team was selected to finish fifth in the USA South Conference West Division in the conference’s annual Preseason Coaches Poll. The Tornados garnered 38 total points in the poll voted on by opposing divisional coaches in the USA South. Defending USA South Conference Champion Maryville College garnered near-unanimous support with eight first-place votes and 64 points to claim the top spot, while Piedmont College earned one first-place selection alongside 54 points in the poll to finish second. Covenant College claimed the third spot with 48 points, while Huntingdon College edged out Brevard with 41 points for the fourth position. Wesleyan College (22 points), Agnes Scott College (19 points), LaGrange College (18 points), and Berea College (17 points) rounded out the preseason voting.
  • Women’s Soccer Sets Schedule for Spring Season

    The Brevard College Women’s Soccer program has announced its schedule for the upcoming Spring 2021 season of soccer. Brevard’s schedule features 10 regular season matches – eight of which against USA South Conference competition – with the opportunity to compete in the USA South Women’s Soccer West Division Tournament in early April.

    Brevard College senior student-athletes Amy Juarez (Women's Soccer) and Jose “Fish” Sanchez (Men’s Soccer) are participating in the 2021 NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program held this week in conjunction with the annual NCAA Convention.
