Late Goal from Ashley Royster Gives Tornados 1-0 Conference Victory

BREVARD, N.C. - Freshman forward Ashley Royster scored in the 85th minute to push the Brevard College Tornados women's soccer team (3-7-3, 2-3 USAS) over conference opponent Agnes Scott College (4-7, 2-2 USAS) in a competitive match at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday afternoon. 

Royster's first career game-winning goal came via an Alyviah Holland assist from midfield, giving the Tornados the 1-0 advantage with just over five minutes left to play in the match. 

Junior goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas earned the clean sheet shutout, saving nine shots to keep the Scotties out of the goal. The shutout marked the second-straight match that Rojas has kept a clean sheet, with the last coming on Wednesday, October 9 vs. Warren Wilson College. 

Agnes Scott held the slight advantage in shot attempts, as the Scotties fires 16 shots compared to the Tornados' 12, however, each team shot nine shots on-target. Brevard won a total of five corner kicks compared to Agnes Scott's three. 

Midfielder Sallie Riggan tallied three shots-on-goal, while Royster added two to BC's attack. 

Brevard returns to action on Sunday when the Tornados take on Wesleyan College in conference play at home. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
