MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Brevard College women's soccer team (2-7-2, 1-3 USAS) dropped a 2-1 overtime conference defeat to host Huntingdon College (3-6-2, 2-0-1) on Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.  It marked the third overtime match and the eighth match decided by one goal or less this season for the Tornados.

Junior Amy Juarez scored Brevard's lone goal off an assist on a corner kick by sophomore Aliyah Vaughan in the 37th minute. With the match scoreless at the time, Vaughan delivered a perfectly placed corner kick to Juarez who beat her defender and guided the ball past the Huntingdon keeper for the go-ahead score.

The goal marked the second goal in as many games for Juarez, who also scored off a corner in Friday's win at LaGrange. Moreover, it was the second straight game where Vaughan recorded an assist on a corner kick. On Friday at LaGrange, Vaughan connected with Brianna Link for a score off a corner.

Saturday's match, which was delayed due to lightning, began with neither team able to generate many opportunities offensively until Juarez scored off the only corner kick of the match for the Tornados.

Ahead 1-0, the Brevard defense and goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas were able to shut out the Hawks for the entire first half despite Huntingdon's eight shots. Rojas registered five saves in the opening stanza as the Tornados took a one-goal lead into intermission.

BC continued to shut out the Hawks over the first seven minutes of the second half until Huntingdon scored the equalizer on an unassisted goal by Erika Gebhard.

Tied 1-1, the BC defense and Rojas withstood a flurry of Huntingdon attacks which included a total of 10 second-half shots.  Rojas registered four more saves in the second half en route to her nine total saves on the afternoon.

The match remained tied through the final minutes of regulation, forcing overtime.  Huntingdon, however, took advantage of an early chance with just 75 seconds elapsed in the extra period.  Erin Cembrale scored the golden goal to give the Hawks the win in conference play.

The Tornados return home after splitting the two-match USA South Conference road trip. Next up for Brevard is a non-conference home match vs. Warren Wilson at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
