Tornados Blanked by Scots in USA South Match Up

Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College Women's Soccer team (7-4-0, 3-2-0 USA South) lost 1-0 in a home conference match to Covenant (5-6-1, 2-2 USA South) on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Field.

The Tornados outshot the Scots 16-14 in the contest, however were unable to find the back of the net and as a result were shut out for the second time this season. 

The two teams played a scoreless first half as Brevard out-shot Covenant 10- 6 in the opening period.  Goalkeeper Rebeccah Rojas recorded six of her nine saves in the opening half to help keep the Scots off the board.

Covenant broke through however in the 49th minute, just 3 minutes and 20 seconds after the start of the second half.  Kailey Burrell scored the game's only goal on an assist by Hannah Rodehaver to give the Scots the game-winner.

While Brevard out-shot Covenant in the first half, the Scots fired off eight shots to just six shots by the Tornados in the second half.

Ten of the 16 shots by the Tornados were on goal with Ashley Hughes (3), Caroline David (2) and Abbie Petrosky (2) each with multiple shots on goal.

The regular season continues this week for Brevard with a road match at Bob Jones on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Greenville, S.C.  The Tornados then return home for back-to-back USA South matches vs. LaGrange and Huntingdon on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13.
