Women’s Lacrosse Honors Seniors to Close Out 2022

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's lacrosse team closed out its 2022 campaign by honoring KC Collins and Morgan Graham on Saturday afternoon at Ives-Lemel Family Field. 

The Tornados (6-11, 3-7 USA South) dropped a 22-5 decision to Methodist University (9-7, 7-3 USAS) to close out the season. 

Autumn Kraemer scored three goals and added a pair of assists for five points, while Emily Denaga and Parker Moore each scored goals. Lexi MacLauchlin made nine saves for the Tornados. 

Methodist doubled Brevard in shots (40-20), and grabbed 38 ground balls. Brevard held a 17-13 advantage in draw controls, but the Monarchs forced 29 Tornado turnovers. 

Both sides traded goals through the first six minutes, but the Monarchs were able to rally six goals in a row to take an 8-2 lead after the first period. Kraemer hit a free-position shot to open the second quarter, but Methodist was able to score seven out of eight to conclude the first half, with the Monarchs holding a 16-4 lead at the intermission. 

Methodist scored all four goals in the third period and outscored the Tornados 2-1 in the fourth quarter, as the Monarchs closed out the 22-5 victory. 

Brevard honored seniors Collins and Graham in a special pre-game ceremony. 

Graham will graduate from Brevard College with a Bachelor's degree in Art with a double concentration in Digital Media and Photography. Following graduation, Graham plans to become a Graphic Designer and move to the Charlotte area. 

On the field, Graham has played in 38 games and started in 35. A dual-sport athlete at BC, Graham has scored one goal and assisted on two, while collecting 36 career ground balls, winning four draw controls, and causing 17 turnovers. 

Collins will graduate from Brevard College in the Spring of 2022 with a double major in Wilderness Leadership & Experiential Education as well as Environmental Studies, with minors in Ecology and Geology. Following graduation, Collins plans to serve as the Planning Intern for the 2022 Voice of the Rivers expedition on the Haw and Cape Fear rivers before starting as the Assistant Outdoor Adventure Director at Falling Creek Camp in Tuxedo, North Carolina. 

On the field, Collins has served as one of the main contributors for the Tornados. Starting in 40 total games in her four-year career with Brevard, Collins has racked up 45 goals and 29 assists for 74 points, totaled 150 ground balls, won 41 draw controls, and caused 31 turnovers. Collins has also started 18 games in goal for Brevard, making 119 career saves. 

Off the field, Collins is heavily involved in the BC community, serving as a member of SAAC, a senior RA, a member of the Tri Beta Honors Society, and the Omicron Delta Kappa honors society. Collins has made the dean's list every semester at Brevard, and is a part of the honors program. 

Brevard finishes the season with six wins, which ties the program's highest win total since BC won nine games in 2016.
